Even if I am repeating myself a bit here, I wanted to make sure that my previous statement about the cash games at Naga during the WPT does not detract from the job that the staff is doing. The poker room staff is really doing a flawless job of running this event and certainly there have been no shortage of tables and players. I was merely expressing my opinion that these events do not do much to create new players and the turnout for this event seems to confirm that. In fact there is probably nothing the management could have done to change this as they are pretty much doing their job at maximum capacity right now. The only thing one can hope for I suppose is that some locals who aren't regs take down an event or two and put that money back into the economy, something that has already happened it appears.

Hey guys had a blast reading this thread, i was wondering if there is any good 0.25/0.50 or 0.50/1 games around cambodia with low rake atm? Need to do visa run from bkk next week and was planning to take a bus to kampot first if there is any games running and if not maybe flying straight to PP.

No game in Kampot at the moment so don't bother. There is a $0.50-$1 game at the WM in Sihanoukville. The Red Fox in Phnom Penh has a $0.25-$0.25 game but it's dealer's choice. Or you can sign up with any of the agents for the online apps in Phnom Penh that run micro stakes. PM me if you want more info.

Although if you do just want to go to a nice, chill town Kampot is certainly that. The food is surprisingly great, people are super relaxed and everything is cheap.

With all the poker going on this week due to the WPT, I took a few days off of online poker and finally decided to play some live after months of abstaining. I have already written about my experience at Naga as to how the WPT did not really improve the condition of the cash games. So I played at Riverking a handful of times and played in their $1-$3 PLO game for three days. There were certainly spots where the action was good, but overall it was an average game at best. I didn't bother with the $1-$3 hold'em game and the $2-$5 PLO game is a bit too big for me. They opened up a new $1-$1 NLH game downstairs and although I hate to say this, it's probably the best hold'em game in town. Don't get me wrong, no one is going to make big money in that game but for what it is the action is good simply because the game is very recreational and made up of players who think that way.

The WPT has brought a lot of poker players to town and it has resulted in record numbers for the main event here in Asia as the Main had something like 750+ runners. I railed a friend of mine from Thailand for the Main and he actually took it down. First place was $131,000 but a deal was struck earlier when I believe it was three handed and my friend was the lowest stack. He ended up taking $97,000 and the trophy so congrats to him. While the events in town helped out both poker rooms in Phnom Penh, I fear that this is very much like what happened with the WSOP Main after the boom came to an end. The event was still getting record numbers in the late 2000's, but it did not necessarily signal a renaissance of the game nor any sort of improvement in quality. I was able to do a little of both today as I got a couple of sessions in of PLO online and also live at the Riverking. Predictably I won online and lost a bit live.

I was in town five straight days during the WPT as I attempted to play as much cash as I possible could. I missed my daughter terribly so I woke up today and took the one hour ride home just so I could visit with the family. But after having spent some time with the kids and enjoying breakfast and coffee with the wife, I had to turn right back around and come back into town. All this back and forth is really taking a toll on me so I'm just going to give up the place by the airport and move back into town. The house we rent now is super cheap, as is everything else there, and there is a certain amount of charm to living there. But the travel is a bit too much so I will probably spend all day tomorrow looking for a new place. I think this will actually lead to me punting less as now it is always a big production when I come into town with the mindset that we have to get it all in while I'm here. And I'll be around more for players as the online club seems to be getting busier.

So of course we had to get in a bit of punt this week while I was here. Last night we started at Alaska Bar on street 136 and ended up on street 104. We started at Air Force Bar on the latter street but quickly left as the girls were being a bit distant. i don't mind if a particular girl does not want to sit with me as that is her choice. But if I can't find anyone else interesting that just means I'm going to leave so we moved it on to Boss Bar. This is one of my favorite spots as a lot of the girls used to work at Rose Bar and they carry on that tradition. Speaking of Rose Bar, some of the girls there moved across the street to a new bar called Babylon as I think one of their boyfriends purchased it for them. One of the girls that moved is the infamous hostess from Rose that always shows us a good time. We've hung out there a couple of times but I must admit that it is not the same as Rose and seems a bit diluted. But they are just starting so hopefully they'll pick up a few new girls. The recent loss has not stopped us from going to Rose Bar as my regular girl still works there and there are still many hostesses to choose from. We've closed out a couple of nights there this week so I don't think our attendance is going to stop any time soon.

I played from here about three years ago when it was still called Bovada. I did use a VPN that I would sometimes forget to turn on and nothing happened to my account. It got to the point that I just played without using one. Seeing this my best friend started to do the same except he used his VPN religiously. But somehow he still got his account frozen and they confiscated his balance.

I'm pretty sure vpn can get you banned on ignition, but they'll let you play if you're traveling in Cambodia (and will let you withdraw your balance if they were to lock your account)

can't create a new account from cambodia though

It'll probably still be running, although you never know in this town. The Bridge Club is where a lot of poker players stay and is good value considering all it has to offer. It currently goes for $34 per night on booking.com.

Spending a month in BK until Nov 17th, I was going to extend my visa and do another 9 days here, but now am considering Sihanoukville or Phnom Penn (or both), for live poker/girls/sun/relax. Any opinions, which and where to stay (hotel/airbnb/area? Last time I went to Sihanoukville it was a little different to know so any advice appreciated!

+1

Unless you're Chinese forget the girls. And forget about relaxing as the beaches are so polluted now. The poker action is dying down as well so just come to Phnom Penh.

Don't bother. I've played the game for the past week and it's completely unbeatable. A 10% rake capped at $5 on a 1-1 game where a good number of the players only buy in for $20. And it's hard for the game to get deep as they cap the max at $150. It's a shame too as it could be a decent game but they've completely constricted it's ability to be a decent game. Simple math really, completely unbeatable.

Nagaworld takes a 10% rake on all games capped at $5, sort of. Once the pots get bigger they have additional 5% levels accordingly:

$1-$3:
$1 at $10
$2 at $20
$3 at $30
$4 at $40
$5 at $50
($10 at $200)

$2-$5:
$1 at $10
$2 at $20
$3 at $30
$4 at $40
$5 at $50
($10 at $200)
($15 at $300)

$5-$10:
$1 at $10
$2 at $20
$3 at $30
$4 at $40
$5 at $50
($10 at $200)
($15 at $300)
($25 at $500)

For Riverking I have enclosed a photo that has their current rake, with one new addition:

$1-$1:
$1 at $10
$2 at $20
$3 at $30
$4 at $40
$5 at $50

It should also be noted that only at Riverking do they take an extra $1 bad beat jackpot drop on all holdem games.

I haven't done a general update in a while so here it goes. I finally moved to a new place closer to the city in the Russian Market area. No more one hour drives into the city every few days. Most days are the same really; play online during the day, go out to dinner and "occasionally" hit some bars. Life is pretty chill right now.
