how much more cheaper can that get in the US? in finland pork is like 10 euros(400baht+) per kilo when bought from supermarkets
boneless/skinless chicken breast goes on sale here for around 1.89-2/lb I just buy like 15 pounds when it's on sale and freeze a bunch. Other cuts are cheaper, I think thighs are around 99c/lb but I don't eat dark meat often. Pork I don't eat too often, it's usually around 3/lb here, ground beef is around the same.

cup o' noodles are 29c

I prolly spend 150/month for groceries

yeah, cooking for yourself in the states is really, really cheap. if you buy at markets here and not villa, and don't buy falang food, cooking for yourself is probably close to the same price here as it is in the states (thank goodness for wal-mart and what they did to the grocery market)

it's only when eating out that an american gets big savings over here

for example: chicken is between $1-$3/pound ground beef usually around $2/pound pork shoulder around $1.49/pound

Hey Thailanders, I'm thinking about going to the beautiful country for 2 months, where would you all recommend I go for a combination of juicy live poker games and beautiful thai women?
Ask us about Thailand! Quote

hard to have live poker and thai womens since gambling is illegal there.

It's actually far cheaper for me to eat out every meal in Thailand than it is for me to cook my own meals at home in Australia.

The US really is far cheaper than just about anywhere else in the world in this regard, I think a lot of the Americans in this forum think that all the developed countries have similar prices to the US. That's not true at all - the cost of living in the US is about 1/2 of that of that of any other western country.

Yeah, I spend at least 350 euros/~$500 on food monthly in Netherlands and that's not counting eating out from time to time, just home made cooking.

Yes and no, if you want fast food then your probably right. But if you want to go to a decent restaurant then the US can be more expensive than the UK for what you actually get for your money.

Also don't forget you have to add the hefty tip in the US to the price of the food.

I don't go out and eat a lot, I buy my food at the store and cook myself.. Realistically I prob spend $300 but that 100 is once in a while for going out to eat, rarely ever go out and eat cause I can cook the same for cheaper in the states.

Would it be wiser to sell my monitor here, or can I ship it from the U.S? I'm thinking its going to cost a lot and I can just buy a new one when I get there.. Yeah?

shipping+possible import tax+chance of breaking it = not worth it imo

just buy one when you arrive. you can keep yours back home and use it if/when you return?

I was blown away at the price of food in Sydney. Although, I think the only thing that is cheaper in Australia food wise is beef, steaks, etc

For a domestic flight out of Bangkok, how early should I be getting to BKK? How about for an international flight out? I'll have to check bags both times. Is taking the high speed airport rail the best way to go? Thanks!

i guess arriving 1 hour for domestic and 2 hours before for international is enough. just check with your airline to see when they close check-in...

i think just taking a taxi is the best way especially with luggage. just reserve some extra time if you have to leave during rush hour and depending where you are

Has anyone tried playing on SkyPoker in Thailand? I've not been able to get it to connect since downloading it (with or without VPN)

I think he's referring to groceries rather than restaurant food.

Groceries are dirt cheap in America compared to Australia. Skinless/boneless chicken is like $4-5/kg in the US and around $13-15/kg in Australia. Just one example of many.

Boneless chicken filet in Norway is about 700 baht vs 110 baht for a kilo here. But minimum wage an hour is probably around 700 baht too.
