One question regarding multiple entry visas - does the 'enter before' date apply to all 3 entries? Or do they update it, e.g. the enter before date is 6 months from now which wouldn't actually allow me to enter a third time if I stayed 90 days each time.
I take it you did this in person not via mail?

Did you need to show proof of a flight leaving Thailand?

I'm heading to Phuket in August and about to apply for my tourist visa

The 'enter before' date is for ALL entries, so you'll have to make sure to arrive in Thailand for the third entry BEFORE the date listed in the visa.

I was under the impression the enter before date was for the first entry, pretty sure when i got my double entry the date was set like 3 weeks ahead of when i received it

have to use all entries one day before the enter before date

Americans:

Texas shares a huge border w Mexico, so I would assume Mexican food is pretty authentic there, but tex-mex also must come from there, so whats the deal? Some tex-mex spots, and some real Mexican restaurants as well?

Nice, been looking for an excuse to visit NZ.

Are you actually from NZ though?

A friend of mine just got a double entry visa in Vientiane with no problem. He has quite a few tourist visas but has also recently spent time in Singapore and Sri Lanka on business.

mexican food is different than Tex Mex. (as is new mexican and mexicali) all of which are unique american hybrids with mexican roots. texas is flooded with quality, authentic mexican food.

I live in Auckland, embassy is in Wellington so did it by courier and it was fine. I have a NZ passport but my GF has a Malaysian passport and she still got it, I don't really think it matters (though she is a permanent resident). No proof of return flight as we don't have one, just sent a letter with a short note about our plans with the application (nothing major, just saying we weren't sure when we are going to return)

In my opinion Tex Mex is way overrated. Don't get me wrong I would have killed for some while living in Thailand but usually not what I go for while at home in Texas. Tex Mex has a reputation of being cheese, ground beef and tortilla in various orders.

Probably is so popular around the world because of people's fascination and desire to be like Texans.

which is why it's possible for euros to think there is good mexican food in thailand?

a big part of it, surprisingly, is the terrible ingredients they use over here. which is funny b/c even good mexican in the states kind of has a rep for cheap ingredients, but pretty much no one has good Queso Blanco or cheddar, the tortilla chips tend to suck, and the jalapenos are mostly canned and not fresh.

i'm with Jeff on Tex-Mex. it's kindof like a gimmick, almost. there's great mexican food in Texas... although the same can be said of pretty much any city i've been to that has a high migrant worker population.

iirc there's a place called miguel's somewhere on the moat in chiang mai that serves the closest thing to mexican food ive eaten in thailand, and pretty good margaritas.

guy that owns it is an american from san diego. also they have funny shirts that say "miguels - real mexican food - jing jing"

i havent had any problems with the 3bb premium for a while now.

are you sure you have premium and not indy?

i dont know how the TOTs new service is so afaik 3bb premier is the best you can get here

CDMA is also good for grinding. I suggest getting it if you are staying longer

i've been using the TOT fiberoptic thing for grinding, and it's been damn good, aside from some random issue with youtube, which i'm not sure is the TOT.....

TOT is the *other* internet service provider. notorious for bad and slow connections, my landlord recently installed the new fiberoptic 10 meg service here at the house, and it's pretty good (pricey at 8k baht/month, though)
