Does anyone know if the cat CDMA card will work in other countries or just Thailand? Otherwise it would be quite expensive to buy for my short Phuket move.

The question is much too broad. If you have money saved up you can probably get by at 25nl/50nl if you put in enough hands. Some ppl will grind 5k a month at 50nl and others will be making 500. Your ability n work ethic factor in. Grinding too low and you take on too much risk and high stress to be in a foreign country & there's always the unexpected costs that come up.

Your monthly spent comes into play and with poker players I imagine that could range from 1k a month up to 5-10k a month for the ballers.

i'm pretty sure it doesn't work in other countries. it also doesn't work in bangkok.

and no, it's not a good investment for people who stay lets say under 3-4 months (obv depends on how much you are willing to spend a month for internet and if you rely only on it)

these pics are about a year old. furniture has been moved and stuff, but you'll get the basic idea.

that's the house in the middle of the picture, up on the mountain.

here's the downstairs single bedroom:

the view from the balcony

the balcony itself

looking out from the kitchen

looking in from the balcony

bedroom. i should make it clear that the New Era Atlanta Braves hat collection is not included

the private balcony.

i don't have as much of the double room available. i'll try and take some pics and post them later. here's what i have.

the kitchen

looking out from the kitchen

this floor's balcony

one of the bedrooms on this floor has a private balcony. you can see it from the main balcony here.

sunset views can be spectacular from this floor.

pool on the roof

covered pagoda on the roof

you can shower under the watchful eye of the big buddha

view from the roof. that grill is handy for the large-ish bbq's we often hold.

the pool itself

area to relax underneath the pagoda

one more shot of the roof from the pool. the rooftop really makes this place, IMO. I'd decided i wanted to live here after pretty much just seeing the roof at night, and a glimpse of two of the rooms.

if we make it to the next new year, the view from the roof is the sickest. thanks to richard for this shot:

Wow very nice place, can see what you say about the rooftop, nice chill area.

What are you paying a month and is it possible to lease for one month?

One thing on those photos boggles me: how do you have so many pair of shoes in the bedroom I find them useless here

pretty random but I've recently gotten into the DJ thing as well (ya ya, it's just Virtual DJ and since I don't have turntables I'm not a "real" DJ blah blah) and it's pretty damn fun. I did a gig for my law school where I pretty much only played cheesy crappy dance music from the 1990s and the girls loved it.

It would be fun to do a few of these in Thailand when I get there. I guess I could also play top 40 stuff as well since the thai ladies seem to love dancing to the mega hits.

in the states until aug-sept, but when i get there i just figured i could maybe play out as a hobby (not really looking to make money from it). i spin progressive/house, currently just make mixes for myself to jog too but i used to do local parties. don't really have anything "documented" i guess as i'm not really pro (i do something similar to dal, use Traktor Pro and a MIDI mixer). seemed like something fun to do with the chance to share some modern/foreign dance music with people. oh well, guess i'll leave it to the pros.

Can anyone reccomend any guesthouses or apartments in Chiang Mai that rent by the month/week?

I think most give special rates for weekly or monthly when you ask for it, especially in the off season.

IDK if he just had connections or what, but I seem to remember Russ or one of the guys who lived in this house before me had a regular weekly at Club Lime.

yo guys I want to move to Thailand for a year or so starting in september - I was wondering if anyone could help me out and tell me where best place is to live and where most poker players live etc

I play 3/6-10/20 on stars mostly and would potentially be open to living with some other players or on my own. Thanks guys for any advice.

i'm going to order some clothes and shoes online bc i didnt bring enough with me from the USA. most of the online shopping i do is USA based online stores, so was wondering what the deal is with thai customs bc I heard shipping stuff here from back home is a hassle bc they charge a lot ect. also was going to have my parents ship some old clothes (no price tags) out here to me as well so wondering if i/they need to do anything for that. thanks.

ps-i know clothes are supposed to be very cheap here ect ect, but i am a lazy poker player and would rather just get stuff shipped to me/i like the nice stuff.

just buy 5 at once and instead of washing it toss it. im not that lazy, but often buy a shirt if theirs no girl at my house to do my laundry at that moment in time.

i guess its not a bad thing but if your going to order clothes from overseas you should cop something that isn't sold at every knock off spot (polo shirts). With stuff like that the only person that will know its real...is you. i remember looking at some knock off watches with a friend and laughed when the watch guy told him his rolex was a bad copy.. as his watch was real...lol

haha damn you guys are so against ordering overseas! but anyways if my parents ship me some of my clothes from the USA that I forgot to bring with me (obvi already worn so no tags) do i need to worry about thai customs charging me "whatever they want" like I hear about shipping computers and stuff like that?
