I also believe you would need to pay the extension plus penalty. HOWEVER, officials in the Philippines often have a different interpretation of rules.

Even if the "official" rules call only for paying a 1000p penalty, I would not recommend depending on this. They may end up detaining you/not letting you leave without jumping through hoops, and by then it may be too late to catch your flight.

It's similar to not having an onward ticket when you arrive in the Philippines. You "probably" won't encounter any problems, but if you do, they will be BIG problems.

Regarding the onward flight thing. I've been stopped every time by the airline. I think they are much more likely to cause a problem than immigration.

Fortunately both times I had a back up plan and just booked another flight at the airport.

ya i concur, think thats more an airline thing than an immigration thing, once you are on the flight its pretty much forgotten, and im 99% sure in a worst case scenario you could get by with a smile and "oh im so sorry i booked the flight online and it said everything was ok, i guess maybe my credit card wasnt approved or there was some other error? is it ok if i head over to a ticket booth and purchase my ticket to ..... right now?"

Divisoria Market. Anyone been? Looked on tripAdvisor to find quite a few people saying "dangerous, only go with local, not safe for foreigners only". I usually ignore this type of stuff as its usuallly the mega paranoid who say it. But im just being on the safe side and there was quite a few people who said it. So is it Ok to go by myself?

ive been to divisoria couple of times already. nice cheap stuff to buy there(need some bargaining skills). there are also 1, 2 malls with a foodcourt. it can get pretty crowded, so just be carefull of ur wallet. and dont walk around with a nice watch etc (which i wont do anywhere in manila). just use common sense and dont get lost. i almost ended in a slum there, so turned around pretty quickly
the market is open until 5-6pm so no need to worry about nighttime.
the only problem is to get a regular taxi back from there, so just take a jeepney and then take a taxi outside the market area.

i was had by SM hypermarket today

the elastic on my boxers had gone out a few months ago, i only own 3 pair and they have had lots of holes for awhile which is fine, but i could only handle a few months of having to stick my hands down my pants and pull up my boxers every 2 minutes before enough became enough and i had to go buy some new ones

i go to hypermarket to look at the boxers selection and dont plan on buying any because the mall is overpriced, but see 3 pair for 320 pesos, thats reasonable enough so i purchase them

i get home and open it up and oops i got briefs not boxers, hmmm i dont look forward to trying to exchange but walk back up thinking just maybe they will let me, i walk up to customer service and smile and explain and the girl says ok

so i go back to the boxers section and a saleslady comes over, i explain the situation and ask her to point out the box with the boxers that i wanted.......... the display was a bunch of boxers on the top of the shelf and underneath the different types of boxers are lil box/packages that they are in..... so i point to the ones i want and say which box are these in............ she walks to the other side of the aisle and grabs the package, this is like on the end of the aisle, and its not 3 for 320 they are 180 pesos a piece

was a nice little bait and switch they have going on there, why those boxers are displayed there but actually sold on the end of the aisle one will never know, end result i had to pay almost 4 dollars a piece for 2 pairs of boxers

you got me, well played, sometimes you think you just know everything and its good to get out done so that you stay on your toes........ i learned from this

i opened the box to try and see the size but they were packed in super tight, they had the same waste band at the top as the boxers right above them

but you are right i should have assumed the box under the boxers wasnt for them, and to get those boxers i should have walked ten feet gone out into the aisle looked on the end of the row on the bottom and grabbed the pack

Hey I'm a Canadian traveling to se Asia soon to travel/ play live poker. I'm planning to spend a bunch of time in the Philippines What's the best way to get money you win in a casino into your bank account so you're not carrying around a ton of cash?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but haven't been able to find any answers.

You can leave your roll at Solaire and the Metro (and am sure you could do the same with RW).

I am a fellow Canadian as well and while this is coming from mainly an online player, I would suggest you open an account with HSBS in Canada before leaving the country (you can get 40 000P per click in Manila at the HSBC ATM and it would make transferring back into your account quite simple). They might be some better suggestions out there, but this is what I would do.
