This whole peak season stuff is rubbish imo. Alot of it boils down to major holidays around the region, Chinese new year, easter and Korean national holidays.

In terms of weather though

Generally rainy season is June-October but it can vary wildly depending on where abouts you are. Most of the time its a really good day then a torrential thunderstorm at say 5pm for a few hours.

The next three months though are generally the best when it comes to weather.

Any interest in a non-baller ($300-400 rent per person) poker house in Cebu?

Hey guys,

I have been living in Cebu for 2 years now but just recently moved to Manila with some poker players. Unfortunately 2 of my housemates have some business issues and are leaving the house, so there are 2 free spots.

Age: 25
Game: PLO400-2k on stars
Location: Manila, Taguig, Acacia Estates
Costs: rent is $500-625 + $350 or so for food/electricity/cook+maid

I used to be a party guy etc when I first came here but those days are gone . I got a healthy relationship atm and im trying to set up a business. I like sports too.

Anyways, Im looking for housemates. Having an entrepreneurial spirit is a plus since i want to quit poker in the coming year and changing ideas for possible businesses is very valuable.

The house is in a quiet, nice neighborhood, just a 10-15 min drive away from the nicest area in Manila, the Fort.

Please message me if you're interested.

By the way, it would be cool to meet new people too so if someone feels like going for a drink/food, let me know.

Cheers

What is the second-hand electronics/pawn situation in Makati/Manila? Any thoughts on how much I could get for a barely-used 11" macbook air (cost=$1000 last year in USA) with original box, power supply, docs, etc.?

I doubt you are going to get much at all for a year old lap top. I'd guess a few hundred dollars max.

I'm no expert on this but if i were you i would look to sell it on Sulit.com.ph. High end electronics do seem to hold there price a little better here. I'd guess that you could probably get 25kish for it

I'm in Cebu for a month with my friend. Any suggestions where we could find a decent 2BR apartment for <30k? Or a 1BR for <15k?
Or maybe somebody's got a poker house set up in here and looking for room mates?

Was just walking down fields and this post stuck in my head. So went in to order one and a Hash brown burger (which were out of stock). My first time having one and I would compare it to a dirty UK takeaway. Next time think im going to get one for takeaway and pop to the shawrama man to put some kebab meat in to remind me of home.

Haha was wondering how you got one... since I've never had to not wait 12 minutes for it...
And I'm always hungry when I get there so can't wait 12minutes for a burger at a fastfood place

After returning from Angeles I want to moderate my initial, highly negative, review of the city. My new review, from an Angeles vs Pattaya point of view, is as follows.

Angeles:

Pros:
-I like how everyone calls me Sir and Boss all the time. In Pattaya, people usually refer to me as "Pumpoi man" :P
-I like how, when you buy a girl a ladydrink, she will usually order a "real" drink, like a beer, rather than a "tequila" (water) like a lot of girls do in pattaya. In Angeles it seems like a lot of girls will actually sit and drink with you rather than just down their shot of water then run off after 20 seconds.
-I like how, when you walk into a bar, unless it's really busy, you'll get your own personal waitress who will make sure you always have what you need. Makes me want to tip more. Good strategy imo.
-THE GIRLS THERE ACTUALLY SPEAK SOLID ENGLISH. HOLY **** I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH HOW MUCH I APPRECIATE THIS, GODDAMN.
-The girls in Angeles are friendlier/less mercenary on average. Obviously there are 10000 exceptions to this.
-Skytrax
-Jojo, the MC in Forbidden City. If you ever go to Angeles then buy him a drink plz.
-Forbidden City. Jesus Christ I love that ****ing place.

Cons:
-It's just not ****ing safe here. It's not. Really. This time I stayed in a hotel on the street next to Fields. I mean literally the next street. I figured it would be ok, but **** me no it's not. Every time I try to walk from my hotel to fields, there's like a 30 meter strech without any lights, and I get jumped by homeless beggar/pickpocket lowlives EVERY SINGLE ****ING TIME. These little scumbags' gameplan basically revolves around swarming you while begging, but the begging part is really only an excuse to swarm you and try to pick your pockets. How these little scumbags don't get punched in the face on a daily basis is beyond me. Maybe they do, and that's why they they look so goddamn ugly. It seriously pisses me off that I can't walk ****ing 40 meters from my hotel to Fields without having to watch out for filthy, homeless beggars/thieves.
-There's nothing else to do here besides bars/hookers and gambling.

I think jojo is an annoying ****er and wish he would just leave me alone when i go there, instead he wants to be-friend me and it takes about 10 mins of hims asking me questions, to which i give one word answers while not even making eye contact with him before he leaves me alone. I guess he can sense my coolness.

I know AC is a bit rough but never had any of that **** before, i always stay on the street just of fields, right next to fields, what hotel was you in?

Do you mean in the area where, wild orchid, pacific breeze, cuba cuba is?

Lol ofcourse they want a beer as that counts as a DLD(Double Lady Drink) at most places, so they get twice the comission on those.

^That.

I dont let them order a beer or normal drink. Id rather they stay sober drinking the cheaper ****ty lady drinks.

it's like 220 baht right? Not bad at all imo, especially when you consider that by the time she has finished her beer, a Pattaya girl would have demanded at least 3 "tequilas". :P

Even if it's a DLD it still feels friendlier to me. We can talk and relax while drinking a beer. When a girl orders a tequila, she's basically giving you the finger.

I always got charged the single price when they got beer... I always just say "I only want a single" before I order at a new place and they give me a big grin or start laughing. Never got scammed after the first time.

Pooter, am I imagining it or weren't LD's something stupid like 500 on Burgos?

Also I remember them dropping the price of LD's 2 or 3 times in one of the bars in EDSA because we laughed at the price of them.
