Anjers, try Aubergine and The Goose Station. They're both in the Fort and the best restaurants in Metro Manila.

Back to Dispatch. I bought it and tried it out with my PLDT DSL and tethered Smart 3G. Auto failover is working fine, but it doesn't seem to be combining the speeds.

Speedtest result with PLDT DSL only

Speedtest result with Smart 3G only

Speedtest result with both PLDT + Smart (this *should* be about 4.37 down, 2.34 up)

Dispatch running

Everyone got a little better, I remember playing back 5 years ago when they were just giving it away. Games are now much tougher but still very beatable, and now the level of play in cash games are just about as good as anywhere else in USA. The Koreans have wised up and Filipinos in general have gotten better since their poker boom.

Resorts World is where you want to be playing poker, and Metro is where you want to go for tournaments. The cash games at Metro are as tough as anything I have played anywhere.

Really miss the winter actually, Asia just doesn't fit me. Prob moving back soon. Played 100/200 holdem/omaha at resorts. The action was good but soooooo slow. Best to just grind online.

Also just locked in my key for the 523454th time. Stopped drinking for a while so locksmiths and swedish snus are now my biggest expenses.

I tried out Connectify and it does seem to combine the connection speeds together. When I'm playing on Stars, the switch between connections is not seamless. There is a short disconnection period, which may be related to the quality of connection I am receiving with my USB stick. It's ok for me as a SNG player, I'm not too worried about missing a hand or two.

Any time you switch IP addresses you have to reconnect to the poker site. These mini-disconnects can really deplete your time bank and sometimes people will quit you heads up, so they're kind've a pain.

Makes sense.

Also it switches to the PLDT connection much quicker than the Globe connection and Globe seems stable enough. If you have disconnects on your PLDT line, I would suggest grinding on the USB stick as your primary.

Wow this is one of the most awesome thread in 2+2. Reading this thread made me want to relocate and play poker again. I have many questions such as how to open up a bank account, how to deposit/cashout from stars or party poker and how to get an apartment in philiphines and cost of living etc... I guess I can read entire thread but that's too much for me. Can you point me to right direction ?

I've spent the last two weeks in AC and just got a furnished place for 10k a month + bills with internet included. This myth about here being expensive is wrong imo. The only major expense here is drinking and girls but that is a cost that is going down the longer i'm here . If your youngish, take care of yourself and aren't a **** it is so easy to get the phone number of girls in the bars.

Food- If your not domestically ******ed then grocery shopping is dirt cheap. Finding the value for money restaurants is also key. There are some which provide horrible food but there are some good value restaurant meals.

Live Poker- if you have any clue at all you should be able to beat the games here. Yeah the rake is high but nightly you get drunken tourists dropping 5- 10k in minutes. So if you do need to grind live cash then you can.

Girls-Plenty of non-hookers who are up for it. DIA is a gold mine but some work needs to be put into it.

Internet-Not really had a problem with it. Occasional drop outs but thats when i've been using hotel wifi. If it looks like its going to last a long time i have a smart bro which works fine.

Yeah this post is good, I agree to most of it.
But the myth is probably for vacationer or short stayers.
To find a good deal on housing you will need to commit to 6 months at most places, but PI can be very cheap.
But the food is where you can save alot, you need to forget about foreign food like frozen pizza an so on.
A good tip is get a maid to come 2 times a week, she will clean you apartment, make the dishes, do some grocery shopping and can cook you some food which you can then put in the fridge and microwave later. Can get a good maid for 2-500 a day(foreigner prices) But you will save alot to let here do the shopping at the market as it's almost impossible to get local prices as a foreigner there.
Or you can just let your **** mates do that.

How long are you staying for? I will probably be in AC in a couple of months.

I don't know. I've been living in the Philippines for 4 years and the plan was to only come here for a week or so. Then go travelling around a bit more. But since i've been here have seen more to AC than just drinking and the girly bars. So decided to hang around for a bit. There is a good chance i'm still here but i might go exploring other places.
