I've been living in Chiang Mai for years but lately have been interested about trying out philips for a few months. I really hate big cities like Bangkok. I want some smallish city with nice people, good traffic, good weather and price level, but still with plenty of nightlife.

What cities should I check out whenever I'll get there?

anyone know if there's a place showing UFC live tomorrow morning? Preferably near eastwood

maybe dumaguete, havn't been there for a few years tho, all the best nightlife is in the big cities.

Cebu and Cebu city are a nice balance, not as massive as bangkok or manila but still plenty of nightlife. Also some nice beaches and scenery outside of the city

Where is the best place to find an apartment to rent and roughly how much would it cost for an average 1 br apartment?

I've heard some conflicting things about Davao. The entire island of Mindanao is on the US travel.gov website as dangerous because of Muslim rebel activities and kidnappings specifically targeting foreigners (may or may not be related.)

However, I've heard about government leaders in Davao specifically that have resorted to things like public executions in an effort to implement some sort of pseudo martial law and that has made it safer for foreigners.

Anyway you shake it it's important to be on your guard as you would in any other place. People that are a bit too friendly are often in it for some money. Just by having white skin you will be considered rich by many people no matter your financial status.

Cliffs: I've heard great things about Davao from many people but I'm not sure it's for the unseasoned Philippines traveler/liver. Maybe Paul B can tell me I'm full of ****. I would trust him. But having spent a month+ here on a few separate vacations I would probably try Cebu or Manila for a few months if I was looking at sampling the PI.

figure i would ask here cause im tired of blowing everyones phone up i know living in eastwood everytime i have a question, and i think there a few who i dont know living here in ew, but globe 3g vs smart 3g over here in eastwood? i was tethering my iphone with smart 3g before i moved to eastwood, and it was fine, great speeds, could even grind 10-16 tables,but the signal is horrible here, both my iphone smart 3g and smart bro rocket are only good during certain hours, seems its only good from 11:30pm-11:00am mon-thu and 2:30am-11:00am fri-sun, rest of the time its horrible. any opinions on if the globe 3g unli plans are any better than the signal im getting with smart here in eastwood? im super tilted because of this internet over here, just wish pldt would hurry the f up and install my dsl, sigh.

It's close to the same in my spot (20th floor, c5 side). I have tried all sun, smart, globe. Neither are reliable here and differences are small. I would say tattoo is slightly more stable probably because of their fair use policy / download cap.
I'll lend u my globe stick if you wanna try it out. You might get different results but I doubt it.

Davao is safe, but could get extremely boring. I would advise visiting first. Also, some of the areas outside Davao city may not be as safe.

what bank accounts work for depositing/withdrawal on stars via visa debt card? i was told BDO works fine but according to stars support BDO has some kind of gambling restrictions, so i opened and an account there for no reason.

there are a few mtt pros that i know. having a back up internet is essential.

I've had the power go out 10x as often as the internet. Make sure you have a backup system when the power goes out.
