Re: Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines?
Yep, Fiber is definitely worth paying the extra for as a pokerplayer. Way superior reliability (which ofc is the most important thing for us). Unfortunately it's not widely available in PI yet, but I'm pretty sure PLDT is expanding pretty rapidly as I was able to get it in my current subdivision. I was shocked when they told me it was available as I assumed they only had DSL here :-). Happy surprise though for once ;-).
Living in Bayswater subdivision in Mactan (Cebu) btw. Pretty good value subdivison imo, great gym in the area, shared swimming pool, tennis, basketball court etc. It's not a great location if you're into clubbing every night though as traffic to the central clubs can be ~~1hour or so during rush hours. But only ~~20min when there's no traffic ;-). |
Re: Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines?
PLDT is the best of out of the bunch. I cannot even express the hate I have for Sky, still ongoing problems even though I disconnected 4 months ago. Their facebook page has all the evidence.
Went to the street burrito place opposite heckle and jeckles last night- awesome and defo the best Philippino attempt at street food I have tried in Makati. Finally got a car in Manila which is awesome to get out of the city but the driving still kinda freaks me out at times. Anyone up for cockfighting in a few weeks? There is an awesome area in Pateros I am going back to (morally meh, but my friend really wants to see what is like). |

The events attracts criminals and some people lose all they have, in other words, the risk of getting robbed is higher than normal. Also, cockfights is a event for guys. First time I wanted to bring my wife but her relatives who were with us did not allow it since they were afraid what the guys would do with her. At the event there was not a single girl among around 1000 of spectators. |

No one's giving me information on getting girls there... I'm not trolling I'm curious since I'm going next year. How much does it generally run? How attractive are they?

getting girls in PI is the easiest thing ever and not something you need to worry about they can come as cheap (free) or as expensive as you want them to........ if you dont want to spend a lot them dont go to the girly bars and buy ladies drinks/pay barfines if one girl asks for more than you want to give then move on to the next |
Re: Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines?
How many free ones have you got Dante?
|
Re: Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines?

Re: Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines?
Surely even leaving the house constitutes some effort. Or did those girls knock on your door like a bunch of mormons and beg to be ****ed?

Re: Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines?
If you are white there is no problem finding chicks with your supposedly fat wallet. If you are slightly tandory or black maybe its a little harder but you will never go home alone if you have heart.

Re: Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines?
Thank you for all the replies guys! I decided to go with PLDT per the advice here. But, seemingly like everything else I've tried to get accomplished since I've been here, I've ran into a brick wall.
So, I go to the PLDT office today. Try to sign up for the 4000php 10mbps DSL plan. Dude asks to see my ACR card so I give it to him. He comes back and says since I'm a foreigner and since the expiration date on my ACR says reference passport (He said the expiration date needs to be valid for at least 2 years?) instead of an actual date 2 years+ in the future that I am required to pay for 12 months up front. So basically I need to fork over 48000 php to get internet. This has to be a load of bull**** right? I've never read anything like that on this thread and I think somebody would have mentioned this, if that's the case. Has anybody ran into this? Should I just try another office and see what they say? I went to the one on Makati Ave and Dela Rosa St btw. Thx in advance for the help. The 48000 isn't that big of a deal. Basically only 1K USD and I'm planning on staying for a year and then re assessing after that anyways. But, I really don't want to fork over a G and then find out PLDT doesn't work good at my spot and then getting Sun or something else instead and being out that money. |
