I'm pretty sure my parents thing peanut butter and bagel is healthier than egg and bacon. It's partially a generational thing. They were bought up to think that sandwiches are healthy. They think that a cheese sandwich is a healthy lunch. They know that pizza is unhealthy 'of course it is Dean don't be so stupid'. They won't eat pizza in a restaurant because it's 'just grilled bread and cheese'. Go figure.

I would have still been 110kg 35%+ bf had I not started logging calories. I used to think drinking a big glass of juice post work out was less calories and more healthy than a regular coke

Once you do it for a while, logging calories also takes less than 2min a day!!! I just log when I go drop a load.

When in doubt and you see a big meal, just log 1500. Enchiladas, beans n cheese, and rice and corn chips? That's bigger lets go 1900.

Carne asada with no tortillas, 2 tablespoons rice and some charro beans? Let's go 700.

Mexican food is the facking devil bro. Good luck. And no facking agua de tamarindo!!! Or churros. And only 1 tortilla on the street tacos. And obviously no soda. Facking Mexicans love soda. The diet section is nonexistent. Fattest people in the world.

Will break it for Penafiel mandarina. There are some in the US also. A solid root beer or an orange creamsicle soda.

I will rarely have a modelo beer but pretty much no mexican beer is drinkable. So yeah OP, no facking beer either.

When will Mexico city get a craft beer movement? Maybe its there already, I know in Panama there is a big one going on right now.

Subscribed, best of luck man!

For exercise, I suggest simply walking outside daily, listening to your favorite tunes. You can start slowly, and ramp it up as you feel better.

the only thing i could think of is beer, and that isn't that important to me. i can give it up pretty easily. fast food is one but i know i'm going to stay away from those for the most part except when i go for the occasional egg mcmuffin or mcdonald's southwest salad.



yesterday was

-wake up
-banana and half a clif bar crunch 200cals (can be seen as my breakfast)
-walk at 2.5mph, jog at 4mph for like 40mins. treadmill says i do about 2.25miles and burn like 350cals. like i said before, i'm not quite sure how accurate this is!
-protein shake 120cals
-shower
-grilled chicken sandwich (just grilled chicken in between 2 pieces of wheat bread) (my lunch) also have no idea how many calories was in chicken. i just bought a food scale so i'll be accurate in future. im guessing like 400cals?
-progresso chicken noodle soup that says 140cals. too much sodium in it tho ldo. (my meal between lunch and dinner)
-more grilled chicken maybe like 350cals (dinner)
-snacks= one of those 5 calorie jellos, 10 almonds for 70cals
and pretty sure that'll all i had yest

That's a lot of chicken for one day. How long do you think you can keep up a nearly all-chicken diet?

Also: My Fitness Pal really is pretty easy to use and will help you with calculating those calories.

protein shakes are liquid calories, btw.

.8g pro per lb/bw, for the most part. looks like youre getting enough protein with all that chicken, so just chuck the shakes.

are you even lifting?

oops, sorry forgot to respond to this one, but i'm glad, as it gave me more time to think about it.

you are absolutely correct in that i view this as a temporary thing. how i'm eating now is not close to how i am going to eat when i lose all the weight i want. my plan is to get to my target weight AND THEN find a diet that i can live with without gaining weight. maybe i'm delusional for thinking like this, but to me, that sounds like the best route for me. i'm mexican, when this is all over, most of my diet needs to be mexican food, not grilled chicken.

i like chicken so i think i can last a while with it as my main food. and yes, MFP is great. i'm on my 5th or 6th day or logging and its been pretty simple.

the reason i drink protein shakes after my cardio is because someone told me that they would keep me from getting sore. ive run 4 days now this week and i honestly haven't had any soreness in my legs, which is nice because if i did have soreness, i would probably give up more easily.

i'll stop drinking them if you are positive that i won't be sore when i wake up the next morning,

He can eat Mexican food again assuming he internalizes some things about portion control and/or finds alternative, lower calorie versions of his favorite authentic cuisine, a lot of which he'd likely have to make himself.

Based on his responses, though, I agree that that possibility now seems more remote.

Yeah but he's choosing to not learn things about portion control and low calorie alternatives of delicious food. Instead, dieting is a period of misery before he goes back to eating too much food.

OP: Mexican cuisine isn't very specific. I can eat a lot healthier in Oaxaca than in Guadalajara because the comida tipica is pretty wildly different. In D.F. you should be able to eat well without any trouble at all because its easy to pic your spots.

Now if you are expected to eat mom's Morelia cooking, you might be in for a challenge.
