You know, benching is a life long thing. Don't get down, keep your head up!

I'm sure the fresh ground good stuff is better, but I dislike coffee snobs in general so I'll probably (hopefully) never become one.
Whoa! Indonesia!? Sounds like you get to spend your time in pretty cool places and probably cool cities, too. That must have been a really fun trip. I bet you got some great coffee there, too!

So buy the beans and the french press or this http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-D.../dp/B00005MF9C

Then grind the beans or put 'em in the machine whole? Grind the beans, right?

For the machine:

Put filter in machine
Grind beans
Put ground beans in filter in machine
put water in machine (designated water area)
put mug under spout
turn machine on
coffee!

Might have to add stevia or some ****

I know most of you prob drink it black, but what're the best add ins?

I'm thinking hazelnut creamer might be the only thing I need to add.

Edit: checking out the aeropress.

downtown - I you

I've heard good things about the Aeropress as well but it looks like such a PITA having to set it up and clean it every time etc

There are like a million ways to make coffee, most of them are pretty easy and hassle free, but nescafe, not even ****ing once. I own and use all of hte following, as whim dictates:

* a chemex (it's a manual pourover drip brewer, I use this like 80% of the time)
* french press
* an aeropress (kinda fidgety, skip if you're so lazy you'd consider instant coffee)
* a moka pot
* a regular drip coffee maker (I dunno, I think it's a cuisinart)
* a vietnamese iced coffee thingy
* one of those japanese vacuum brewer things (OK, bought it ona whim, it is not simple)
* a big old 1 gallon jug: fill with like 2/3 or 3/4 lb of coarse ground coffee, fill rest of way with water, stir it up real good, leave it on the counter. After 12-24h, strain the coffee out, refrigerate, bam. You can:
- mix with cream or milk and ice for iced coffee (may want to dilute with water a bit)
- mix with boiling water for hot coffee
- drink straight like a man (cold)

That last one is my favorite way to make coffee for large dinners. While I get the dessert out I berl some water and then mix it into the concentrated coffee. Tastes good, low acid, easy to do at the last minute.

That last way sounds intriguing.

How do you like the aeropress?

Not lazy~ just a coffee noob.

It's just weird seeing you pop into the LC thread and one random log three times a month when you DL more than 90% of the forum (or maybe that's Sando, I get you two mixed up sometimes).
fwiw not only the LC thread but it's spilled into a bunch of logs and miscellaneous threads as well. now you can say: "hey if you don't like it but the logger doesn't mind it then you can GET OUT" which is a quite fair point. still, it's a shame that one will have to wade through all of the funny troalling if they want to follow a new log nowadays

and yeah that's Sando with the 3xBW deadlift

takes like 3 minutes to clean/brew a cup in the Aeropress and most of that time is spent waiting for the water to boil in your electric kettle

The last one is usually called a "toddy" or something similarly effete. I think at one point I was dumb enough to buy something to make it with. It was like a gallon container with a plug in the bottom and an integrated filter. Waste of time. Now I use a grocery store plastic kool aid jug.

It's OK. But let me put it this way. I get good old fashioned american drip coffee in the morning for $1 and in the afternoon I go to the snooty place that likes to tell me that their beans smell like strawberries. I have the option of a "clever" brewed coffee (kind of a fancy pourover thingy) or an aeropress and I very very rarely choose aeropress.

True, and there's definitely a happy medium, and I do skim (as opposed to read) a number of the logs I used to follow completely.

Thank you!

Gonna try the brew n' go and the gallon jug method.

Need to pick up a grinder, too.

Aura,
I once read that cheaper "burr" grinders were not actually burr grinders and some don't work well (though I don't specifically remember why, my guess would be tolerances of machined parts though), so caveat emptor!

Great to hear! It's such a beautiful day here! I spent some time this afternoon just taking a walk.

I have not gotten any lifting in! I have been doing some mobs, but I need to get on lifting pronto! Things are crrraaaazzy with a new kid, but everything should settle down shortly. They key is to have a good routine and a good attitude! I don't have either sometimes lol! But I can turn that around!
