Grunch

Friday had a power deadlift day. Form a bit off but whatever. Been eating like a horse lately but still around 180-182lbs. Look soft and smooth. Might need to diet soon. By noon everyday my stomache sticks out and looks very unattractive.

Today good squats. Bench press i overshoot. I got 240x3 the other day, but 242.5x1 today feel v heavy. My triceps are were still sore from Friday workout. Very weird I’m not recovering after almost 3 days.

I was injury 3/4 last year with my shoulder so all I did was sqaut and deadlift. It’s just Mike T.’s program minus his high volume stuff. He has mostly x3 and x4 reps in his 2nd part of the program so I just do that for now. Need to go on his full program lol.

V powerful session. I slept 12+ hours before lift session. Usually been getting 4.5-6 hours bc of craptaular work scheduling. Might just need better sleep and more protein. Don’t count these days. I just eat whatever.

Power session last night.



Now I don’t know why it is, but I am stronger when I bench in the rack. Could be some confidence thing as the safety bars are there. Now my single felt real heavy and decide to test it in the rack. Got 240x3. Not bad.

I'm the opposite. I'm stronger when not in the cage, maybe because it's a fear of shame/injury/death.

However, I only bench out of a cage when I'm at a globogym. It could be simple as my home weights and bar not being accurate.

There is this power lifter at another store which I help out from time to time and he said I should try. he looks big and around 180lbs and taller than me. When I first saw him, I estimate his maxes at 495/315/500, but he’s only been training for 3 years and maxed out around 390/290/420. Now I was shocked at how big he looks but mediocre numbers.

I’m on IG too much and see too many people pulling mid 500 for reps which is absurd.(sumo doesn’t count to me). Evan Kardon said it best. You rarely see conventional 600+ pulls from a dude who weighs 160-180, but see 150lb dudes in onesies pulling that sumo. The chicago powerlifting scene is pretty soft as far as I know. You can compete with any numbers, and I think you'd be fairly competitive to win a lot of smaller tested meets. At the free for all meets, maybe not.


More and more competitive powerlifters are pulling sumo and yes its because its cheating. A guy weighing less than 200lbs pulling 600lbs conventional is very rare at both tested and untested events, unless you are in Texas, California, or NYC or something where there's just tons of people in powerlifting.

You're at a high level now, N1H. You should definitely go to a proper powerlifting gym and get some guidance. At this level, you can only get a small benefit with people coaching you online. An expert who's been doing this and coaching for years can really make a huge difference in your progress just refining your technique, even if you're unwilling to let somebody change your programming. Plus just being around higher level lifters tends to be extremely motivating.

Ya bro. So the guy I met at the other store invited me to lift with him. He lifts at a nice gym. Metal plates. Old school. Has a deadlift jack and all. I think a lot of srs lifters lift there. Might go and see what it’s like.

V nice session last night. I think the extra days of rest helped. But squat felt heavy and out of breath for some reason. Might be too fat.

V nice session. I had to go in the afternoon bc of weird schedule. Felt very weird as I’m not used to being around people. DL probably took 35 minutes. Now I was DLing and these 2 nasty hairy ass mofos start to come near me and do chest flies behind me. I think they were gay. I stop my warmups and see if the dude that was using the DL platform was done. Thank god he had 2 sets left. I patiently waited and continued. Also too many girls in there wearing shorts with their ASS hanging out. Now you can wear shorts dont get me wrong, but these chicks wear the smallest shorts on purpose, a size too small. Many years ago they tried to add selling music to their business and make that a big part. That was pretty dumb imo. SBUX will be fine if they stick to selling coffee. Caffeine is one heluva drug as you know. Your store doesn't have to necessarily be like the average Starbux store worldwide. The store GM could be way way more effective than most or way way worse. Generally a store can only be as good as the GM.

There's a saying in retail business like yours "sales solves all the problems." Get sales up. boom! now you can hit labor, food cost goals. And give people more hours. Get your team upselling and cross selling, making relationships w customers. Do a contest w a prize on upselling the new product. Then there is more sales and more hours for everybody.You should tell you boss "hey ,I'd really like 35-40 or whatever u like. If they cut them again. Say I saw my hours were down. I'd really like my 35-40 whatevrr.

They cut our hours and labor and everyone is always either pissed off bc they are doing 3 things at once and nothing gets done at the end of the day. I pretty much clock out and stay after to finish sheit bc stuff isn’t done. That is technically illegal, but if something isn’t done, the morning crew will complain that stuff isn’t made or this or that wasn’t finished. It’s annoying as hell as the morning crew doesnt do jack shiet. Im just going to clock out and don’t GAF no more. If something isn’t done, it isn’t done. If they want to cut labor this is what they gonna get. I’m not cleaning shiet no more. I hope one day the food inspection guys come in and flag us for health hazards and shut down the store. It will all be on management and this stupid ass company as they are cutting corners.
