2/5

DL
10x135, 5x185, 3x225
3x5x255

OHP
10x45, 7x75, 5x95, 2x115
2x5x130, 8x130

FS
10x45, 5x95
3x5x120

Chins
2x5x+35, 6x+35

DL went fine; recorded the second set and my lumbar and t-spine look good, although I still need to work on keeping my chest up without flexing my neck (i.e. packing the neck). Had to regrip a few times in the last few sets, which is kind of pathetic at 255, but I haven't really DL'd in a while so it's not unexpected. I'll continue to ramp up slowly until the top sets start getting hard, then maybe move to 3 triples or something. Last set of press was grindier than I would have liked, but was happy to get 8 reps. Front squat was light and easy as intended, and chins were a bit harder than I would have liked, but whatever.

Pushups today/tonight then LISS tomorrow.

Weighed in at an aura-like 196 this morning; bleh.

2/7

Squat
10x45, 5x95, 2x5x135
2x5x185, 10x185

Bench
10x45, 10x95, 5x135, 2x175
2x5x200; 14x200

Dips
2x5x+60, 6x+60

DB Row
3x10x75

DB Hammer
2x13x30

Meant to do facepulls, but no time; 6x25 pushups this afternoon/evening. Videoed my squat from behind and it seemed fine; I was worried I was favoring my left side, but I don't appear to be doing that (at least not at this weight). Squeezed out an extra bench rep compared to last time at 195, which was nice.

Damn dude. 14 reps. You think you reset far enough?

saw,

Maybe it was a bit too far, but we OLDS have to take things slow when 6-8 weeks off are taken. Hopefully I'll get 10+ reps at 225 whenever I hit that (looks like March 3rd), but whenever it starts to get mildly heavy, I'm going to go back to microloading and try to keep the gains slow and steady.

I started "too low" on squat and DL intentionally, mostly because I am going back to lowbar on squat and wanted to take it easy, and also because I wanted to get a big more DL volume in that 1x5 when I was starting back.

LISS: 40 min at 3.3 = 2.2 miles
Chin Ladder (6 out of 9 reps in last set) = 42 in second ladder, 85 total (PR)
6x25 pushups

Nice job getting back at it. I would take it slow too....not like you have a meet in two months.

Also, wtf? 34 is young!

It's a bit of a different format, but when I was doing volume pullups a few months ago, I think I got up to 10 sets of 11 over ~40 minutes at roughly 5 minutes rest doing them in between work sets of other stuff. This is a bit of a different format, but getting to 100+ total shortly would be pretty cool I think.

I never feel that old until I read some of the exploits of some of the young 'uns on this forum and realize how domesticated I am. No real nagging aches and pains, mostly because I don't lift heavy enough. Hopefully the first part continues while I venture back up into jellydick territory.

2/10

Squat
10x45, 5x95, 5x135, 2x165
2x5x190, 10x190

OHP
10x45, 7x75, 5x95, 2x115
2x5x135, 7x135

Facepulls
4x15x35

Pendlays
3x6x135

DB Curl
2x12x35

Cable Row (Narrow)
3x15x90

Cable Tri Pressdown (Narrow V)
20x60, 20x70, 13x70

Finally consciously engaged my glutes out of the hole on squatting on my AMRAP set and it was much better -- power bottom4lyfe. OHP was fine; last reps were grindy so I'll be moving to fractional plates on Friday. Did Pendlays belted and it felt much better having something to cue me to brace my abs. All the rest of the bro stuff was good; got the whole thing done in one hour on the dot.

Chin Ladder (6 out of 10 reps in last set) = 51 in first ladder
LISS: 40 min at 3.5 = 2.3 miles
Chin Ladder (6 out of 9 reps in last set) = 42 in second ladder, 93 total (PR)
6x25 pushups

Just ran out of gas in the last set of the chinup ladder, but I'm pretty confident I can complete the set of 9 in my second ladder within the next few trips, which should allow me to hit 100 reps in the day. HR was still pretty low with the LISS, even with upping the speed, so I guess I'm just going to keep it upping it until it starts to affect recovery (which at the jellydick weights I lift should take a while).

Wow so we were lifting at the same time? Probably the closest I'll ever come to lifting with Monte. Cherishing the moment.

Nah dude, today counts as cardio, bodyweight chins are essentially a form of active recovery for me I think.

I'm actually moving weight (such as it is) on MWF from 11:45-12:45 or thereabouts, so adjust your schedule accordingly.

I'm pretty far behind you in most stuff right now, but I'm feeling pretty good on this GSLP cycle. Going to keep the volume relatively high for the lower body stuff to get as much high quality work in as I can to make sure my traditional weak points (low back, core) develop enough so that I can make some gains to my previous lower body lifts. I think I can get up to 3x5x295ish relatively comfortably on DL, and then may start working up to a single set of 3-5 with backoff sets after that.

Weighed in at 195 this morning, which I guess is kind of holding steady-ish. Once I approach my previous strength levels, we'll see if I can continue to improve without gaining weight.

DL
10x135, 5x185, 3x225
3x5x265

Bench
10x45, 10x95, 5x135, 2x175
2x5x205, 13x205

FS
10x45, 5x95, 3x5x125

Chins
2x5x+40, 6x+40

Videoed my last two DL sets, and while I don't think there's much point to posting them because of loljellydick, most everything looks good, with the exception that I still need to work on being able to raise my chest to tighten my t-spine region pre-lift without craning my neck back. Pussied out on my bench and didn't even try the 14th rep even though I have a spotter, which I need to get better at doing, and FS was loleasy. I wish I was progressing a bit more on weighted chins, but I'm just doing them once a week, so whatever.

Going to increase my frequency pushups to 6x30 for a few weeks and see how that goes; it's annoying enough to fit 6 sets in at night so hopefully I can add reps for a while longer before reaching the point where extra sets are the only way I can add volume.

I can maybe join you on some Mandalays and Windsdays, but my schedule varies since I usually only take one day off between sessions. Sometimes I'm in on M-W-F, but then I'm in on Sun-T-Th.

I really love GSLP. With SS, resets feel so dumb. You drop down and still only do 5 reps per set. But with GSLP, a reset gives you a chance on the last set to realize how much stronger you are. Nothing like hitting easy extra reps on a weight you barely hit 5 reps on the first time.

busto,

Agreed on the feels for GSLP; hopefully I can keep up lucky number 13 on the bench reps for a while longer.

Yugo,

You're outside of jellydick, so I can't take your advice. I'll be aligning myself with loco as necessary going forward.

CB,

That's sweet, but I'm far from intermediate and far behind you in pretty much everything. Feelsbadman.jpg

Yugo,

That last gif was too much; my kids might read this log one day. Think about their feels the next time you post something disrespectful to women, please.

I like to think that gif is disrespectful to everyone involved.

But sure, I will think of the children next time and go with Dora doing a fist-pump or something like that.

Chin Ladder (6 out of 10 reps in last set) = 51 in first ladder
LISS: 45 min at 3.8 = 2.84 miles
Chin Ladder (7 out of 9 reps in last set) = 43 in second ladder, 94 total (PR)
6x30 pushups

Wasn't feeling great wrt chins today, but happy that I managed to pound them out. Upped the speed again on the LISS and the HR was more in the 110-120 range, which seems good-ish to me I guess. 4 more sets of pushups today and then I'm done.
