Are you finishing/have you already finished 10k swings or has there been a change of plans?

A combination of traveling/work/sick kids derailed my montementum and I kind of want to start lifting again.

I'll probably throw in some medium to heavy-ish KB swings a few days a week for some extra posterior chain work, but other than that, it's GSLP for a while until I get back to something approaching respectable.

In other news, I'm going to throw in weighted dips on bench days.
You always will bench more than me and have more sex than me so I will forever be gel. buddy

Dadding story:

One of the minis projectiled all over his crib, the walls, and the floors tonight, and then just sat quietly for an hour or so (I'm guessing) until the wifeacore checked in on them before she went to bed. The other one woke up when we went in there to clean and screamed bloody murder because we dared to interrupt his beauty sleep. It's pretty funny how different they are.

In any case, the wifeacore has this "condition" where she can't be around puke or it makes her puke -- awfully convenient. So she spends like 5 minutes looking all around the nursery talking about how disgusting it is and then peaces out for me to clean up. Good times.

"Montecore starts a new program" should be the new title

It should probably include something about sandy-ness or anti-WIM so people don't confuse it with JF's log, though.

Weight: who knows. Big reset on everything since I essentially haven't lifted for two months; we'll see how a slow GSLP style progression works for things. Will be GTGing 6x25 pushups daily this week in the evenings.

1/20

Squat
10x45, 5x95, 5x115, 5x135
2x5x165, 10x165

Bench
10x45, 10x95, 5x135, 2x165
2x5x185, 13x185

Dips
2x5x+55, 6x+55

Pendlays
3x5x135

EZ Curl
2x12x65

Videoed my squats from the back and there was an embarrassing amount of buttwink, so I shall not be posting that **** -- something to work on. I widened my stance out a ton and felt some light grindiness on that left flexor, but also felt like it involved my glutes/hams more and stretched out groin area more, so that helped. Probably going to need to do some mobility work to fix this.

Bench was fine; probably could have gutted out 1 or 2 more reps, but my left side was starting to drop a bit and I didn't feel the need to push too hard. Lost a fair bit on dips, but it should come back; I videoed that too just because I wanted to make sure I'm going down far enough -- looks like I am imo.

Spoiler:

Pendlays were terrible as usual; so hard for me to get into position because I'm #notbuiltforit, but I'm going to keep at it with some horizontal pulling stuff a few days a week.

Tomorrow is going to be some LISS, a few chinup ladders, and some facepulls.

fakebusto,

Is that you and your bro? Cute.

Yugo,

Aidan,

The minis can actually do a ton more than I can; it's always a proud moment when a son surpasses his father, or at least that's what the gynocracy tells me I should be feeling.

Quick betamonteisbeta.jpg story:

So I just got promoted at work -- raise, huzzahs from everyone, all that stuff. In any case, there's kind of a power vacuum at the moment because our VP has been offsite working at a client full time for the last 15 months and hasn't really had time to actively manage things. He came to me on Friday and asked me if I wanted to run the office for him while he was gone; the problem with that is that my lifting buddy, whom all of you love to hate, is next in line seniority and title wise (Senior Director), whereas I am now a slightly higher ranking peon and by far the youngest person in the office. I told him I'd be more comfortable if we shared the duties, which makes sense because it keeps his vagina non-sandy, and we both travel a decent amount anyway so having some duplication of duties seems appropriate. I just had an hour and a half meeting with my CEO, and she asked me the same thing three different ways, trying to get me to throw my buddy under the bus, and I wouldn't do it.

The only other justification for not doing it solo is that it's a lot of extra work for no extra money, and at least with him on board, it allows for the benefit of his experience/expertise at this sort of thing while giving me essentially the same visibility to upper management without 100% of the accountability.

Flame on.

CEO wants to start building a case to get rid of Monte's superior and then give him another promotion/raise.

Monte wilts under pressure.

Yugo,

Part of the equation that I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before is that he's our most experienced employee and most valuable resource. Him leaving would ** us, and this would cause him to leave.

I'm actually just trying to test how much jam is in the rooster. Seems your late 2013 meltdown is far behind you.

You have kind of mentioned that. I mean, none of us know anyway given that the entire situation is also extremely dependent on the political machinations that we aren't privy to.

Basically, having to handle a situation like that is kind of risky and the best thing to do no matter which way you go is to make sure you sound professional - which it sounds like you did.

Yugo/POW/BTM,

Thanks; I thought I handled it the right way for the company overall, which is the metric I try to go by.

aura,

Thanks!

busto,

I've never really had any issues going (what looks to be) a bit past parallel; maybe I just have good bone morphology in my shoulder (insert Type I/II/III jpg of shoulder as needed). I assume if it was too low, I'd have felt something by now?

1/21

Did chinup ladders to fit them in quicker in the GSLP ebook style, which is 1 chinup, rest 10 seconds, 2 chinups, rest 20 seconds, and so on until failure. I bookended them around my LISS, and threw a few sets of GTG pushups in, so it looked like this:

Chins: 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/5,f (total 41)
LISS: 40 minutes @ 3.0, 2.01 miles
Chins: 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/4,f (total 32)
Pushups: 3x25

So I've got 3 more sets of pushups to do today, but otherwise I'm done other than mobility crap. Being able to work up to getting through the 10 rep set in the ladders would be pretty cool, but I just want to increase the total number every time.

Mid-lumbar region is kind of sore today, I suspect from pendlays; might just scrap them for one arm DB rows.

Still haven't weighted myself lately, but I am not super concerned, as my pants still fit; I'm probably in the 193-195 range post morning **** so no big deal. My abs were pretty sore today, presumably from the chin ladders yesterday, so hopefully that passes relatively soon because I'm doing them tomorrow too.

1/22

DL
10x135, 5x185, 5x225, 5x245, 5x185

OHP
10x45, 8x75, 6x95
2x5x115, 10x115

Front Squat
10x45, 5x95
3x5x115

Weighted Chins
2x5x+35, 8x+35

Deadlifts were really easy, but I'm trying to take things relatively slow and ramp back up at a reasonable pace. I feel like I could have gotten more reps on press, but was a little fatigued from yesterday, and possibly just from getting back into the gym in general. FS was pretty easy and light, but doing it more for light DL assistance/recovery so I'll try to progress more slowly to something reasonable.

Feel pretty good overall, though, but then the weight's still pretty light. 6x25 pushups tonight.
