Jesus horse-****ing Christ, how oblivious is the average gym goer? I was doing snatches tonight, and this idiotic personal trainer decided to plop her 50+ year old obese client down in the leg press ~6 feet behind me and then sat down literally RIGHT BEHIND me as I am snatching. I almost hopped enough to hit her in the face with my ass during one of my reps.

So I turn around and say "Excuse me, that's not a good place to sit." She gives me a death stare, says nothing, and walks around to the other side of the leg press. Excuse me for valuing your life more than you do. Meanwhile her obese client says outloud so I can hear, "I really don't feel safe here, I mean he's doing it RIGHT THERE next to me, I am very uncomfortable." I went about my business and they changed to one of the 2 other leg presses, like they ****ing should. Cobra 1 ****y personal trainer 0

Immediately after they left, a wife-beater-wearing bro decides to WALK RIGHT BEHIND ME MID SNATCH, leaning away as if he is giving me enough room not to kill him if I have to bail. I mean, how goddamn oblivious are you people? You're standing EXACTLY where the bar is going to end up if I have to bail. You are going to be crushed by 160 lbs. This is not smart. It's simple self-preservation. WTF?

Is that wrong? I see people clean and jerking all the time and sometimes I have to walk really close to them to grab my 10lb plates for my press warmup. I almost bumped in to a guy once, but I didn't.

LOL, I'm 215 lbs, hardly a brag. I'll start thinly veiling my brags when I reach ~200 lbs

I'm still a ways away from a 160 snatch. Don't have bumper plates so catching the weight is a PITA.

cobrastatus - - - even getting close can break your concentration -- which is NOT GOOD when lifting heavy things. i saw one big guy ream a staffer when the guy walked in front of him while doing the leg press.

once, i was doing squats in the rack, i'm about 4 feet from the wall, where one of those squating shoulder pad thingies is sitting, and some guy just HAS to go pick it up in the middle of my set. oy...

Group of bros at my gym all walked in in a line today as usual but one difference.....have all had the same haircut! Kinda reminds me of the "douchbag" motivational photo with the guidos but not coz they've all had bowl cuts, I kid you not

I hope they're going to a fancy dress party but something telling me otherwise....oh wells maybe it's just me and I'm missing out on teh new fashion though

Sayid - it depends. Most of the time when I lose it it's because I missed the catch overhead and the momentum carries it behind me. Sometimes it falls in front of me. But that's not the point. It's not like the PT can predict which way I am going to bail, and if I bail backwards, I've made a mistake. It's, get the **** out of the way of someone when they are snatching, you stupid PT.

Hardball - I don't have bumpers either, man up :P Or keep doing them at your gym until they tap you on the shoulder and kindly ask you to leave. So far they haven't said anything to me.

quirk - The weight room is a dangerous place. People either don't know this or have forgotten, which is why I was so incredulous. LOLcommercialgymaments

you can't really go off on someone for walking in front of the cage while you're squatting...

but what seems to happen ALL the time in my gym, where the 3 power cages are set up next to each other with two weight trees in between([ ] is a rack, ^ is a tree):

[ ] ^ [ ] ^ [ ]

is people walking over to grab weights while others are mid-squat, walking like less than 6 inches from the bar, like it's no big deal. I consider it a miracle that nobody has put me in a wheelchair yet.

I have had people actually hit the barbell when I am squatting in the power rack, no joke. Once it was a guy curling right beside the rack. Another time it was someone trying to squeeze between the barbell and the wall (rack was next to a wall) to get to a weight plate, which there was plenty of on the weight tree on the other side. Luckily it was always warm ups and never a max effort lift. Unbelievable. My incredulity superceded my anger on these occassions but sometimes its hard. So easily could injure someone badly these idiots.

If my gym (globo style) is anything to go by, squat racks are always in terrible places spacewise.

There was this kid showing his two buddies how to deadlift and squat and starting them off with ridiculous weight 175 on the deadlift and 145 for squats, they all looked like they weighed no more then 130. His buddies were trying to talk themselves out of it saying how it looked like too much weight, but he insisted that they would be able to handle it. They get through the deadlift and first set of squats alright with terrible form though and then decide to add 50 more pounds to the squats and the first kid just goes straight from unracking down to the safety pins and rolls out. The kid then makes his buddy get back under the bar so he can show them how to spot and the 3 of them lift the weight back up. Was debating on stepping in the entire time and suggesting lighter weight to start but decided against it. They did do squats, deadlifts, and bench press so at least he taught them a good program lol.

Seated shoulder press machine with a belt.

there is a reg at my gym who does everything with his belt on, primarly machines such as lat pulldown, triceps pulldown and various stuff in the cable cross.

I tried doing situps with a belt on once, it was not a good idea

An older guy in my gym, who is thin but in pretty decent shape, always benches with one foot on the bench and his legs crossed (like he's sitting in a chair, only lying flat). Interesting way to isolate the upper body. Most everything else he does seems pretty standard, but I always laugh when I see him do that.

I saw a guy benching 315, slowly, with his legs off the ground, doing bicycle kicks, slowly.

Pretty brolic.

When I got to my gym yesterday, some dude I've never seen was doing almost parallel squats with 205 while wearing vibrams...... and a gas mask

As the cross country team was finishing up, the 110lb dudes were having an abzor flex off.
