Never seen this before, dude was benching and squatting at the same time. I don't really judge people but it was pretty interesting to see.

Basically as he pushed the weight up he extended his legs straight out without them touching anything, and when he brought the weight down he bent his knees all the way in to his stomach.

Level of ******ation? (1 being synthol 10 being... the opposite of synthol)

Haha, how about sunglasses. He was curling in front of the mirror with sunglasses.

There are some windows, this time of day maybe 5% of the gym would be affected. Nowhere near where this guy was curling and definitely not enough to warrant bringing sunglasses.

Combine this guy and 45lb screaming dude = head asplode

I swear, I've never seen any guys in the gyms here do anything close to that ******ed. Bigger swongs in Lolmerica imo.

One of the trainers was doing a heavy squat session low bar style and we were yelling Coleman quotes at him. Pretty amusing.

The bench press rack will always be set to as low as it can go. Unless there's an army of 5'2 girls benching when I'm not there, it's utterly ridiculous to have them set so low, and I'm the only person I've ever seen actually adjusting the height of the pins on the one rack that isn't fixed in place with a bolt.

Related: The squat rack is always set too high. I'm guessing a combination of:

a) Everyone high bar squatting
b) Napoleon syndrome

Weird, I like to have my pins as high as I can get them. FEels like less strain on my shoulders when I lift off.

Fairly sure for lbbs rip recommends around mid sternum hight and I find this pretty good.

Observation: the bro doing quarter-ROM leg presses (not sure why he even bothered rotating that bar that releases the pins) seemed smug when performing his "lifts" with more weight than I was deadlifting.

These guys are the worst. What is the point of loading 16,000 plates on the machine, when you could just do single leg work with half the weight? I guess they get a pretty good cardio workout loading all the plates on there. (But for some reason they usually don't get a workout from unloading it......)

Definitely! At least the bros curling in the mirror get something from their efforts.

I guess they get just that...to be seen "training" (quotes for obvious reasons) with stacks of plates.

Awesome observation! These guys NEVER strip their plates.

Last week I needed a couple of 45s and saw an empty bench with 405 lb on the bar. As I've never seen someone leave four plates on the bench, I checked and rechecked, certain someone had probably just stepped away for a moment. Sure enough, someone came by to resume his training.

If that were the leg press with four plates on each side, I've have grabbed the plates without even breaking stride, certain the bro who was on it was long gone.

Most people will never do a heavy squat or deadlift though, they simply do not have a clue how much harder they are. Even if they did squat with proper depth, chances are that the easier setup and far more weight would bring them back on the leg press if they refuse to understand why compound movements are better.

I prefer it to be set high enough that I can slide the bar off without pressing it out of the rack but low enough that I can keep my shoulder blades contracted and tight while unracking.

Nice call!

Also, when the no-ROM leg pressers do try to squat, they just turn it into a standing leg press by doing it for half-ROM or less.

Nothing functional, of course. Just some minor development of what we used to call "beach muscles." No-ROM leg presses don't even accomplish that modest outcome.

My high school football coach would generally not permit curls at all, deriding them as non-functional training. He'd call them "curls for the girls." He probably shouldn't have said that, as not many 16-year-olds would find being more attractive to the opposite sex to be a bad thing, but no one curled there unless they had first finished up their functional training (and LOL at anyone having extra energy for curls at that point).
