"hey man. you need a spot."
"no."
then he fagged off to somewhere else. probably went to the locker room to pretend to tie his shoes for half an hour.

well if the ratio of gay:straight people at your gym is so high, whats that say about your chances of being straight?

Hey, I am not 35, its just been a hard life. And I only asked because you were 1/4 benching, so I thought with a spotter you might feel comfortable doing more than just bending your elbows.

Had my first SS workout this morning. In the power rack next to me was a 150-lb dude doing barbell curls...with wrist straps. Ugh. Big-time cheats at 100 lbs, so he added another 20 and set a world record for cheats. Ugh.

Wait is Kruk really bruiser? I don't see it, he uses too much punctuation / capitalization.

When I got to the gym today, they were in the process of moving the squat rack and power rack to a new room away from all the hot chicks working out on the elipticals and treadmills

What is this new room?

Doesn't that mean there won't be any curl monkeys hogging up the power racks now though?

Curl monkeys have yet to make an appearance, everyone using the rack/cage has been doing normal stuff in it. Worst I've seen is a guy doing 1/4 ROM squats and having the pins set so high that he had to get on his tip toes to swing the bar up when he was done, one side at a time.

Using squat rack for OHP, is this ok or not? (I have been doing this, seems like the most easy way to re rack the bar in my gym but may be a douche move)

i use the rack/cage for OHP because im already there when i squat...if someone wants the cage i ask if they are going to squat, if yes, i give it up, if no then they can **** off or work in...

Rack for OHP completely standard. I mean the only aternative would be to clean it and obviously people aren't doing that every time.

At my college gym. Doing my squats. Huge fatty + really skinny boyish girlish looking kid (probably both freshmen) were benching 1/4 ROM 50 reps.

Maybe 10-15 mins later:

Fatty: "Yea, can't do it anymore, but in my prime I benched about 210-220..."

Then proceeds to fail a 1RM attempt at 115.

...

About 30 mins later, still next to me because I was using the same rack the whole time today. Random dude comes over to them and was like "yo if you're not using that mind if squat here?" They say sure. Fatty turns to his friend and goes, "We're not gonna do that, I got a better exercise that I used to do." Proceeds to explain to his friend, "We're gonna hold these 10 lb dumbells and jump as high as we can. Jump 5 times with the dumbbells, drop them, then jump 5 more times without the dumbbells."

And then I saw one of the funniest things I've ever seen in the gym: a young fat kid who couldn't maintain balance and was jumping all over the place with and without dumbbells.

I am now officially a hamstring bro in teh gym

So I go to the gym the other day and I'm bummed to find the power rack is being used. My friend who I'm working out with isn't there yet so it's not a huge deal, and I ask how many sets the guy has and he says 3, so that's not too bad, so I wait and watch him. He first squats 135 and he has the safety bars low so that he could actually do a full atg squat, of course he doesn't but he gets semi close to parallel. For his next set he loads up 225 on the bar and puts the safeties like three rungs lower than where the bar starts at so that he can't even get anywhere near parallel if he tries. My buddy is here at this point, and this is like his third or 4th SS workout, and he's already squatting more than his bodyweight (he weighs like 170), and he's like, "Pfft, I could do that if I only had to go down an inch or two". I was so proud.

Really hot 40ish year old woman smith machine squatting really deep, which was fun to watch. But then I realized that she had her heels up on 7.5lb dumbbells (~2.5 inches) and then I couldn't look away.

Also saw a bigger guy who I'm guessing is a college lineman easily one arm DB snatching 95lbs (biggest DB they had). Form looked really good. I was impressed, but I'm easily impressed.

Not to **** on your post, but this isn't really that impressive. I snatched 80# the very first time I tried and I'm not strong at all.

You snatched 80lbs DB with one arm the first time?
