I got stuck under the weight doing the bench yesterday. Three other people in the gym. I yell help, all of them look at me, do nothing.

I say it again, the woman and a kid on the other end of the gym look at me again and I say "yes can someone help me I am trapped under this weight!"

Finally the kid on the opposite end of the gym comes over and gets it and I give a big "Thanks guys!" so everyone knows how badly I hate them. He laughs and that's the end of that

OR IS IT

DUN DUN DUN

stupid ****in whore who just stared at me like a stupid ****in whore practically trips over my BB while I'm doing RDLs so she can grab a single 2.5 lb weight

so she can do lawnmowers with it

then as she was leaving I ran up to her with a 45 lb plate and yelled HELP!!! and when she turned around I said "Oh good you can hear me now!!!" as I beat her to death with it.

KP,

how much are you benching? Why didn't you roll it down your stomach?

+1

I have done that several times and a few times nobody is in the room so I just roll it down my stomach. It hurts if it's more then 225 though and I could actually see someone breaking a rib doing it if it was much more then 275 or so.

I think he benches with an ez curl bar, that might hurt more to roll down.

...

I'm moving soon, though =D

Pinned down on the smith machine? Oh the humanity...

This GGO was at my last workout: Trainer telling skinny indian kid that his quarter squats were ok because, and I quote "Your anthropology is different to average, so you dont need to go so deep." I cracked up laughing for a good few minutes after that.

I heard a trainer tell someone (a girl, LDO) "More reps with lower weights is always better."

This was in passing and I didn't hear any other part of the conversation or what context this was said in or anything like so I'm not sure what he was talking about.

But regardless if you follow his logic all the way through you eventually get to no weight being used whatsoever. Max reps baby!

I'm sure a clever H&Fer can come up with a context where the quote would make sense.

"More reps with lower weights is always better considering your weird personal goal of getting the maximum number of reps possible"

?

My friend was at the gym and saw this heavy-set guy walk in with his 15 year old son who is just super thin/weak looking.

He takes him over to the bench press and with no warmups puts 135 on. The son takes the weight and it just immediately falls to his chest, and the dad picks it back up doing >50% of the work and struggling to lift it up. They do about 4 sets of 1 then the dad takes some pics with the son beside the bar.

Then they go to the squat rack and load 265 on it. The kid can't unrack the weight, so his dad helps lift it up and balances him while walking out of the rack, and then holds his torso while the son does one rep of a 1/16th squat. They do another set of this and its even worse and the dad holds the bar the whole time. After this set, they take more pictures of the son beside the bar and leave the gym

Did you call the police and report the child abuse?

Saw some guy benching 135 but with his palms facing towards his head, like in a chin-up position. Has anyone seen this before/know if its a legit excercise? It looked kind of dangerous to me.

Should I ever produce off-spring for which I become responsible for, I am going to encourage them to participate in sports and physical activities... But if I ever turn into that kind of dad, I would appreciate someone punching me in the face/balls.

i can probably only 80 to 100RM air squat. but since 80 > 5, air squats > weighted barbell squats.

edit: My max rep for air-bench press however, would blow your mind.

It's legit. It's a reverse-grip bench press.

Two bros were brosercizing while I was trying to lift today. Not uncommon, but entertaining nonetheless. Alpha Bro, in running shoes and hard core fingerless gloves, was putting the other bro through a killer routine of preachers, hammers, upright rows, and front raises, and there was tons of motivational yelling, etc. Whatever. Standard, right? They weren't bothering me or anything, and I wasn't really paying too much attention aside from a cursory chuckle to myself, only because it reminded me of all the lolz ITT. Normally I deadlift in the Crossfit room with the bumpers, but there were some folks WODing it up in there so I just stayed in the power rack with some good old iron plates. During my work set, the weights were making some racket when I put them down, especially the last rep. As I finish and take a quick seat to rest a second before unloading the bar, Alpha Bro says pretty loud "and that, ladies and gentlemen, is why you lift with gloves on." Then he buried a set of 10 preachers. Douche.

No. That would make gripping the bar interesting. What type of weight?

So the gloves stop the noise of the plates? What was he getting at? What did you say in reply?
