I have straps. Apparently I am too dumb to use them, as all they did for me was make the bar bigger which is exactly the problem. However I couldn't find the "rippetoe recommended" style straps, just the ones with the loops, so who knows.

Right now I think my problem is 50/50 slippery hands/grip so definitely gonna try out the liquid chalk stuff or whatever I can get that is inconspicuous.

Thremp,

I went as long as possible strap-less. I got them because I wanted to do shrugs and DB rows. A reverse grip on the DL was working fine, but then I started getting lazy (Ill change that). Chalk would work as well (except shrugs), but too messy.

Victor,

I am cleaning my OHP from the ground and also get the headrushes on some of my heavier sets.

i dont get it. any one care to explain?

yoga sounds like yoghurt if said with the right type of american accent.

Right, so ALL African Americans are naturally lean and "studly"?

I am so tired of the stereotypical bull**** on this forum.

Saw a guy doing DL's today... saw him do 455 with good form and attempt 475, not sure if he hit it.

The interesting thing was that he looked completely unremarkable. Just very average proportions and nothing noticeably muscular about him. Before seeing him lift I would have believed it if someone told me didn't work out at all.

wat? black people have better genes than most people period. they can eat fried chicken, drink koolaid, and put on mass much faster than most of us and I envy their genes

Saw a guy do somewhere in the 600's on the DL and I thought a similar thing, wouldn't strike me as a uber strong guy. He actually looked kinda flabby...

human body is amazing really. my dad recently did 100 mile trail run. i crewed at a few rest areas to give him new shoes and whatnot.

anway, if you sat at the 30mile mark and tried to guess who would finish and who would fail based on looks and body type there is no way you would guess over 50%.

there was no trend on who finished. short fat old guys were just as likely as skinny young guys. it was weird to watch.

ahahahahahhahaha

this gave me an idea for the most hilarious racist thing possible:

A nutrition/training book by Lyle Mcdonald , with dietary protocols separated by categorys, standard Lyle book.

Except one of the subcategories............ is for black people.

"Flexible Dieting for Various Phenotypes and Genetic Predispositions"

Now, let's have a look about how we might alter our post workout nutrition based upon what we know about our insulin sensitivity, body phenotypes, and the other genetic determinants that will effect nutrition.

PWO:

Cat 1W: .5g/lb CHO from glucose polymers with .25g/lb whey and 5g creatine. Followed by a P/C/F meal with lean meat or fish, fibrous vegetables, and potatoes.

Cat 1B: as much koolaid or grape drank you can chug over 30 minutes or until your genetically advantaged supermachine body tells you to stop, followed by a fried chicken and watermelon meal of indeterminate size 1-1.5 hours later.

I self nominate for racist ban pls

Been limping the past 3 days, left leg really hurts. Either overdid it with the KB's or just was doing something wrong. ****ing sucks, hopefully it clears up. Don't hace access to the KB's this week anyway.

lol

on another note, how many of you guys squat in your socks only? and how do you get away with this at a public gym?
02-14-2009 , 11:36 AM
i do 100%. never been an issue. one fellow gym goer thought it was dangerous, but that has been it. i dont really see why it would be a problem anywhere as long as your feet dont smell.

*edit* infact one of the personal trainers there saw me doing it and commented that it was probably a good idea if i didnt have squat shoes.
02-14-2009 , 11:56 AM
I just haven't bothered trying it because my gym is just not that kind of gym. So I just squat in my converse's which I like a lot. I do however jump rope in my socks since the the converses hurt for that.
02-14-2009 , 11:57 AM
I do always.

i dont get what you mean. my gym refers to its self as a "fitness club", it has a ladies gym and a sauna. its not like i go to a powerlifting gym or anything.

I go to a health club. Its full of losers.
