Jesus dude, those metal hooks are like the least masculine thing ever. Use straps or man up.

I have. I can't figure it out. The bar feels great at first and then they slowly slip out. I do it just like the videos. They also make the bar thicker, which doesn't help. Very small hands over here.

Once you figure out how to use regular straps you'll love em. I have small hands too. I also struggled a ton with using straps at first. I think something that helped me is to accept that you won't really be holding it strongly in your hands. It's gonna slip out a little bit; after all, you're using straps because you can't hold the weight. But after it slips out a little bit, it shouldn't go anywhere, if you're fingers are around the strap and not letting it unravel, it'll just be pulling on your wrist nice and secure.

Looks like finger is not as bad as I thought. Going to try and deadlift tomorrow.

5/21
Chins (parallel) +40 7 6 6
Vbar pulldown 3x10 130
Tbar row 3x8 100
Seated Mach row 2x10 100
Dips +60 3x10
Incline bb press 135 9 8restpaused
Pec deck 2x10 110
DB incline curls 2x12 25s

5/22
Wanted to do heavy shoulders. Were still fried from yesterday (dips + bb incline press).

Did light shoulders, calves, abs.

Well I feel like they slip out and then I am barely holding on with my thumb and the bar hanging from the strap. It doesn't feel solid so I drop it. I guess I can buy a new pair and try again. There was a thin worn out strap at the gym that felt better because it was really thin and didn't add considerable thickness to the bar.

You could just ****ing man up and lift three plates without straps. Use some chalk and a mixed/hook grip or something

Last edited by Dudd; 05-22-2013 at 03:26 PM. Reason: wait, 305 isn't three plates

Maybe. But I shaved the 'Stache so it will probably be boring.

Did you ever provide a pic of the stache? Don't see why you shaved it tbh

I bought straps, brought them to the gym and had to call Cha59 to ask him wtf to do with them.

No worries bro, just come lift at Casa de Cha and you'll be DLing with straps properly in no time (or DLing without them b/c your grip isn't super weak like mine).

I assume anyone who has difficulty putting on straps the first time must be nearly mentally ******ed.

Could have just been a temporary blood sugar lull caused by lack of bread pudding, be charitable

Bread pudding preworkout is probably fake. Today I had lots of cactus and beans and a protein shake. Did 'aight. This is where the workout took place

Deadlift 245x1 275x1 295x1 315x1 (mixed) 225x10
Dimel 205x10
Speed 3x3 205
Zercher 175x8
Hammer sitting leg curl 115 2x10
Kneeling uni curl 2x10 90

Here is the 295x1. Double overhand, no straps. You can see my skinny calves here. If I can't grow them I am quitting weighlifting. You can't see them but my upper legs and glutes are growing decently.

And here is the 315x1 (mixed grip). I may be getting a new sticking point. My knees have never done that. Pretty weird. Will be on the look out.

Mexican gyms are crazy. They have like a whole room worth of calf equipment. Donks are obsessed. Probably think it helps soccer. That guy has decent calves but he also had a huge pump going because he was doing infinite sets.

Just woke up. It's 1am in Vegas. Average calorie intake the last two days probably about 800.

Got really sick in Mexico with Moctezuma's revenge. Fever. I am recuperating and hope to be back in the gym on Monday.

Food poisoning is the worst feeling ever.

Loco, are you planning to still be in Vegas on 7/13? If so, come see Weasel & I lift in the USPA national championships at the Golden Nugget.
