Who would have thought a facking former fatso from middle nowhere bumblefack 'Murica would be taking down the goldenloco for "best newcomer."

This guy basically proves you don't need 4000+ cals to make good strength gains. Rippetoe methods destroyed. Long live the fakebusto slowbulk.

Well it was this guy or EV. Somebody has to win.

Nice work fakebusto; I'm glad I read this before I worked out, because it inspired me to only be proportionally weaker than you for another half week.

Very impressive.

Video evidence. Took loco-like rests in-between each rep. Couldn't be helped. I need a big breath to keep my core tight, but I was literally out of breath each rep.

Almost get crushed in the second set. You can also see the big guy in the background that I've mentioned once or twice. He busts into whatever workout you're doing to give you tips on how to improve your form. Good on him for trying to cure DYELism and prevent injuries, but I'm glad he leaves me alone.

Sorry again that set 3 video gets cut off mid-set. Not sure what happened. I even moved the camera over the plates at the end to show that I really had 2 plates on each side.

Wow. Sick depth, twice the ROM of my squats.. True ATG. Those are equivalent of a LBBS 275x5. Congrats bro. Power rating now increasing.

Siiick. Jfc I should stop looking at logs, always jelly of something. No way I can keep my low back flatfish going that low. Prolly can't squat 2 plates that low either.

Busto it's fine to use the bounce like you are, but just really make sure that you're engaging your muscles hard right from the very beginning. It can be a common mistake to rely on the bounce for the first part of the ascent and then turn it on when you start to slow down. This COULD be a cause of some of those reps where you stopped then started again. Basically just contract hard right after the bounce.

saw,

Much thanks for the tip. I do try to control the descent and the "bounce" such that I don't rely on it and am actively lifting from the ATG point, but I will pay attention to what you said next time. It'd be good news if the difficulty mid-ascent was due to what you're describing instead of old fashioned weakness.

depth like that is only achievable with zero leg mass.

lolllll, 100% positive I could not do one rep at that depth. Nice bro

Don't think I've seen anyone post ATG squats like that besides busto, though he had pretty mad buttwink. Very solid work

TY. I felt like the 4th rep on the second set was the easiest of them all (weirdly the rep immediately after the one that almost crushed me). It didn't feel/look like I got quite as much depth as the other reps, but I got up easier than any other rep of any other set.

Not so weird, ime there can be significant variance in between reps on hard squat sets. All depends on how good your technique is on that particular rep.

ETA: also, your squat is gonna bypass mine any second now. FML.

I squat to this depth as well. It's my excuse why I squat baby weights.

Deep squats and no mention of Downtown? The time has passed the man up. A former shoein for the H&F Hall of Fame and was also on the brink of IEL status. Then had a baby. That was all she wrote. RIP to the most beautiful deep heavy squats H&F has ever seen.

Sorry, don't follow your log - I pretty much don't follow any "new" (as in newer than 2013) logs anymore. Apologies. My own high bar squats are well below parallel as well but not to this degree.

DT is yesterday's news on so many levels.

No apologies necessary. My log isn't exciting, you're not missing anything.

Re not following new logs, you're posting in a log that was created in 2013, right? The olds starting to cause dementia in poor soulbro. Doesn't even know where he is anymore.

I follow PoW's log. Good stuff. But I understand why Soulbro wouldn't. H&F regs see the word "conditioning" and their eyes glaze over. Can't have conditioning when everyone is getting fat, bulk bulk bulk.

Challenge Accepted.

4 reps lulz. I was intending to go higher, and I did. But depth was only at parallel for 4 of the 5 so I said pf to uploading.

I believe the challenge calls for a 1 day ban for every rep you miss. See ya in 24 hours...

Okay you misunderstand my "go higher" - as in, weight. the 255x5 isn't terribly impressive depth wise.
