What is going on in this log? Didn't you use to be strong? Studies do indicate that when there is a young infant in the house, a man's testosterone levels drop, but your wife hasn't delivered yet, right? So that can't be it.

JDOCK asked, "What is going on in this log?" Thanks for the question, JDOCK.
I will address this in a straightforward manner, no jokes.
I took a break.

"Did I used to be strong?"
Not imo. Strong-ish at best, only when compared to those who are not actually strong. Mostly I am just large. My goal is still to be strong by December.

No young infants yet. SOON.

My plan is to still attempt to hit my year's PL goals. Extremely difficult, and things will have to go perfectly, but I have an outside shot. I still don't care about body comp. I should. I am just relating the state of affairs.

I weigh the same (idk what I weigh, actually, guessing 285 though) and I probably GAINED 5-10% BF from the below numbers. So lel at that goal. lel.

~15% bf at 123/270lbs (~5% bf loss and 15lbs weight loss. Priority to strength stuff though.)

So you're an actual fatty fat fat now? 's ok, you're strong enough (or will be again soon) to use that as an excuse. I would possibly randyectoplasm.jpg myself if you managed to get a 250 HBBS. Also, DL goal?

I don't care who you are them goals are obviously attainable at an outside shot, so dat dere means you is strong.

SM,
Bc of previous lower back injury, I don't want to set too aggro of a DL goal. I will just play that one by ear. Current PR is 250, so maybe 270 short term. 300 would be cool lifetime, but it'd probably require more specific multi-year effort, and so far I have not shown that I have that in me. Maybe.

I'm surprised that you would be able to aggressively go after squat PRs, but DL PRs seem more risky. After my back injury, I was able to push harder with DLs a lot sooner than squats. I know your more upright style has something to do with that, but still....

I just haven't prioritized DLs. I could, and it might be better for my back.

When I started doing DLs after my back injury, I started with trap bar DLs off blocks, then sumos off high blocks and gradually lowered them over time as I felt better. I used chains a lot when I started pulling from the floor. All that stuff lessened the strain on the low back.

Tired. Slept a LOT this weekend. Idk. Prob need creatine.

Squat
170x3 (1-2 left, back not tight so stopped)
I think I need to reset to 120-140 and just do a 3-5 sets of 3-5 reps and proceed linearly to build up my core, reorient a groove, unpussify myself, etc.

Bench
105x5 (2 left)
Fine. Felt like I had a tighter setup here than last bench. I'll do linear stuff here, too. But start relatively higher. Maybe 92 next Wed.

Deadlift
175x5 (Hookgripped, as I was wearing my hookgrip.com tee)
Fine.

I think since you were wearing that tee you can note your DLs as 1st pulls or something.

Also, lot of training posts from you lately. You need to slowdown. Please, be safe.

I was there twice this month, but you were not there when I was. I'm likely taking a short break with the upcoming baby.

I told you I like that idea! Maybe medium is wrong. I said 70 was easy though, I just wanted to note it wasn't "easy".

Went to a Deschutes tasting. Couldn't imbibe fully due to standby-for-overdue-mini-DT status. tyo.

If you are sleeping too much, swing away.

Lotsa KB swings will cure the sleepies. And the fatties too. It's just way too brutal at first.

Good luck, hopefully mini-DT will show up sooner rather than later. Also, I'm too lazy to look back, but are your weights kg or lb? Guessing kg but want to make sure

I like KB swings and have been using them as pretty much my only cardio other than walking since injuring my leg. I don't think they cure sleeping too much, at least for me. Guessing you meant they will cure not sleeping, which I agree they do.
