More jizzing about Cantillon than lambics imo. I've had a lot more lambics over the last year and can say that I'm warming up to them. They aren't for everyone though.

Not lambic but last night I had the Drie Fonteinen Zwet.Be, that was a pretty cool beer. I also had Ballast Point's oatmeal stout which I thought was only ok. I also had the Bear Republic Big Bear Stout which wasn't as good as I remembered but still really nice, kinda feel obligated to order Bear Republic whenever I see it since they're outta Massachusetts soon.

I've never been able to find a way to get into the Islay whiskies. I mean, they are fine, but I wouldn't buy a bottle or order one.
Yeah, I think the Taipan's profile is very much a function of its target market. At the price my friend got it for it is decent, RRP I'd stay away.

Islay's not my favourite drinking whiskey either, but it's good in tasting quantities (if that makes sense). More importantly, my travel companion for this trip is a Friend of Laphroaig and I want to keep her happy because of obvious reasons.

I pair my beers with the activity I'm involved in. So, I drank 4 Hamm's last night while watching the LoLions preseason game. Felt right.

Unaged whiskey IS basically unfiltered vodka or pretty much the same thing as moonshine, only legal.

I did something to my knee earlier this week then spent yesterday walking around Six Flags on it. Bending it for stairs is the biggest issue.

Not sure what I tweaked, I didn't feel anything out of the ordinary, it was just sore on Wednesday and now worse today (presumably from all the walking yesterday).

It doesn't stay as good as the first episode but it's not too bad.

My record is better than yours.

Hope your current manic episode is going ok.

For those of you that are subscriptards, the link to the current sign-up/re-up thread for fantasy football is here. There will be at least one open team, since DT has decided to abdicate in order to spend more time walking, playing tennis, and enjoying floor spirits.

Lots of whiskey talk in this thread. If your intention is to keep me and Evo out of the thread than mission accomplished.

In very loosely related news my wife made a screwdriver last night and I took a sip and it was bad. Reminded me why I stopped drinking any type of hard liquor in college.

Amstel light and Stella 4life!!!

Whiskey is my liquor of choice by a long shot.

Is there a single person ITT who drinks cognac and calvados or am I surrounded by uncouth bourbon drinkers?

Looks like we are the only diamonds in the rough Soul.

If it's on the floor, I'll drink it.

I wonder if your next post in this thread has some answers as to what initially caused the pain:

You drink cognac/calvados? I must confess to being surprised. Pleasantly so!
08-14-2015 , 06:22 PM
Bought a bottle of calvados from a distiller when I was in Normandy.

Well seeing as how I probably only drink once a week on average and didn't drink around the time it started hurting, I'm going to go with them not being related.

I think he simply means your taste in drink. As in, it is so bad that no wonder bad things happened to you.

I think my taste in drink is probably worse. I generally like non-caffeinated soda. You know, the real hard stuff.
08-14-2015 , 07:35 PM
Hmmm, well, I hardly think whiskey is that bad of a choice but whatever.

BZZZZZZT. She had it correct, just wondering if she got hurt due to imbibing too much.

Whiskey is a good choice, but I tend to stay with beer.
