I do a bunch of deads and squats when I train, and my Sugar Cane Okinawas were definitely tight in the upper thigh when I first got them. They've stretched pretty nicely and fit well now. I have just under a 33" waist and got the 34's but you could try jumping up to the 36's if you want some extra room. The Self Edge website has measurements for all the different cuts of jeans, so I'd suggest looking on there and seeing what will fit you and what won't. They also ship SUPER fast(and free); I placed my order at like 3pm on a Thursday and had the jeans by noon on Friday.

Go here - sick shop - only US Sammie Distributor (though they have the 'American Versions').

Top US Denim shop imo other than Self Edge (though I prefer to buy my ish direct from Japan).

It appears I'm a huge drooler since I'm having mad issues with this sizing deal, but I've got another question. On Nudies, what is the difference between a Dry Dirt Organic and a Dry Heavy?

I was gonna hazard that the latter were more starched for better whiskering, but I really have no clue.

without knowing anything about those jeans, id say the dry heavy is a heavier weight (i.e. thicker) denim.

This seems far too logical labeling. I may just have to send an e-mail.

does this place stock jeans in normal sizes? i went to urban outfitters the other day and they don't even carry most jeans in a 36. i feel like some of these designer labels just don't want people wearing their clothes if they aren't scrawny hipsters... if you have a big frame, even if you are in good shape, forget it.

(i'm not even in good shape right now but even when i am i wear a 36, so i feel like a have a legit gripe here)

I'd agree as I usually wear a 36 as well and bigger sizes are tough to find. I have a pair of Nudies Regular Ralfs in Dry Selvege in 36 that are really like a 38+. They were worn for about a week in the house mostly (as I have to wear slacks to work).

I'd be willing to part with them if you're interested as I'm going to be working on my Sammies for quite some time and they're just hanging in my closet.

LMK and I'll measure the waist.

My Sammies have claimed their first victim - one of my favorite Banana Republic french cuffed white shirts..............................

Just realized today, that after a night of clubbing / boozin - there was a significant amount of indigo on the very bottom of the sleeve cuffs. Guess it rubbed off dancing? DAMMIT!!!!

You're doing it wrong.

Snipe - You may want to try, like, washing your shirt.

Hrm. Something occured to me in between furiously flaming and hating my bitter spite filled life.

So I live in a quite rainy place. It appears your not suppose to get raw denim wet, and I fked if I encounter a freak rainstorm? As are my car seat, anything white I encounter and everything I'm wearing light colored?

You're also not supposed to light raw denim on fire, yet here I am in San Diego...

I haven't spilled anything on my jeans yet so I don't know how they'll behave if they get wet. The dye will probably bleed pretty profusely though, given the way it rubs off on stuff when dry.

I'm curious if it'll be noticeable. Like if it gets my leg wet like half way down.. Will I have a weird sort of fading from where it was wet? That would annoy me substantially.

If you're in the US, call Self Edge or something and ask them.

Getting wet is fine. You're supposed to beat the **** out of them...thats the point.

They do fine in the rain, just stay away from light-colored furniture.

i had red wine spilled on my 3 week old apcs and somehow the indigo just like absorbed the wine - theres no stain now (15 months, 2 washes later).

NICE!!! Congrats!!! Glad it worked out for you. e2nd is pretty amazing imo.

Are those pre or post soak? Apologies if I'm telling you things you already know, but as Samurai's are unsanforized, they WILL Shrink a reasonable amount and if you've broken them in, your fades will move and look weird.

A good hot soak (or two) will get the starch and excess dye off and get the shrinking out of the way before you really start breaking them in. Strangely enough, my black 710s actually bled significantly more than my 5000VX's.

Nice fit btw. What size did you get? I'm 6'3, 175 as well and went with a 36 which is suprisingly snug.
08-27-2008 , 09:29 PM
Yeah I soaked them. I did a 3 hr hot soak with boiling water. Should have got most of the shrinking out of the way though I am sure not all of it. Its ok I probably won't wash them for at least 7-8 months as it seems my jeans never get stinky. I went with a Size 33. At first couldn't button them up but after a short break in they fit great.
