Does anyone follow Nick Diaz on the new app he's pimping. Hillarious.

It's him sitting in his seat at ufc184 looking all pissed off. He pans the camera around and he's basically sitting in the upper deck.

He posted "Gave me **** tickets!"

Saw a stat that this was the first UFC championship fight without a strike landed.

OK, Rogan does work for Dana.

Hey, money talks.

1) RR is the best women's fighter in the world
2) How long does good taste require we still pretend to be interested in her fights?
03-01-2015 , 04:03 AM
1) Everyone knows it.
2) I think that time has past. It passed a few fights ago.

1 wasn't really expected to be met with debate, it was just used to add context to 2. RR's fights are downright boring because she's the only one in the world with this kind of headstart in her sport. It's a combination of something interesting to note and something really awful to watch.
03-01-2015 , 05:47 AM
I figured as much. I don't think I was ever interested in one of her fights. Maybe the Miesha fight where it went past R1, but only after that. None before or since.

pretty sure running full force into the clinch is the best way to assure that you immediately get judo thrown and armbarred
03-01-2015 , 08:28 AM
Well, that event sucked.

Agreed. If this was any other fight everyone would be talking about how amazing that sub was.

So you saw someone with a sound gameplan, that looked like a worthy number 1 contender then ?

I don't know, I think in some sense she is almost the only thing left for me that is interesting in MMA.

Total other worldly dominance is always interesting no matter what the sport.

The problem is when you frame her fight with ****ing Koscheck vs. Ellenberger and a female fight for the winner to get arm barred, that level of dominance can't hold the entire card.

I can't believe they even did Koscheck vs. Ellenberger as a big fight. That is exactly the made up fight I say when I joke sarcastically with my friends that would pool money to watch every UFC 5 years ago, "hey you want to get together for UFC XXX for the big Koscheck vs. Ellenberger fight".

If I was getting paid 50 bucks it would be a tough decision to sit through Koscheck vs. Ellenberger.

I'm saying if you think most people on the roster can do that to somebody charging at them you're nuts.

The guy in the fight game that needs way more exposure is Chocolatito.

Flyweight Mike Tyson and I can't even find a highlight of his latest execution from yesterday.

Nice finish, but it's hard to get too excited when her opponents are way inferior and makes, it seems to me, amateur mistakes. If Ronda fights someone who's considered a worthy opponent I think people would be excited to see her fight, but at this point that's Cyborg and no one else.

Wonder what a fighter feels the moment they realize they were put in a highlight reel.

Maybe that's what Dana sells now.

Not really tho. Total other worldly dominance is only interesting when the sport has a long established history and high level competition. Watching Tiger Woods wreck a sport that people had been trying to beat for 100 years was amazing, and I'm not a golf fan. Watching Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson go HAM in NASCAR. Watching Jordan's Bulls, etc. etc. All of those cases had a group of people competing at the top of their field for years and suddenly these guys just dominate.

I like that RR is such a badass, but she's the only one in the world in a sport that's basically a few years old. Watching a college wrestler go out and beat up middle schoolers just isn't fun.

Forget this fight, her last fight ended in 16 seconds after a basic judo hip throw. No men's championship fight is going to end like that because the level of competition is too good. In time, the women's game will catch up, but it's not there now, and that's a shame.

Secondly, because of the high level of talent in Men's sprinting, Bolt doesn't always win. In 2013 he lost to Gatlin by 1/100th of a second, that kind of competition breeds excitement.

Eh, that's not really true. Ronda basically had her KO'd on the feet and then hip tossed her hard and punched her repeatedly. It wasn't the hip toss that ended anything.

I thought Jouban and Ferguson looked great last night. Ronda was very impressive as well, but I wish someone would test her in not-jodu...****.
