04-08-2010 , 02:23 PM
you should 100% be able to have friends fight each other. just another angle in the value of fights we may never get to see and their impact on the strength of each promotion.

Lol, exactly.

Good pick with King Mo Mikey, I am not a fan of his, but I keep sleeping on guys that can fight 2 weight classes, I need to pick it up.

With my edit:sixthpick, I choose to solidify my MW division by taking one of the best, if not the best, available fighter in that weight class. Ronaldo "Jacare" Souzas only loss the past seven years is to superstar Gegard Mousasi. He's just a nasty mother****er with the best grappling in the whole world. I'm very very happy.

promotion so far:

LHW: rampage jackson, gegard mousasi, (vitor belfort), (wanderlei silva)
MW: vitor belfort, wanderlei silva, ronaldo "jacare" souza, (gegard mousasi)
LW: tatsuya kawajiri

wow totally forgot about Jacare good grab.

FML, was praying he would fall to me
04-08-2010 , 03:58 PM
i didn't think jacare would go that high, but that's probably just me over-compensating for how awesome i think he is.
04-08-2010 , 04:01 PM
sorry for the slow picks btw dudes, been a bit busy during the day. im all free now
04-08-2010 , 04:14 PM
if you hadn't of slowed things down i would have, i tried to make a quick trip to the bank but the bastards wouldn't accept my FT check and i had to go to the issuing bank to cash it
04-08-2010 , 05:08 PM
i realllllly wanted jacare
04-08-2010 , 05:16 PM
apparently em2 also really wanted jacare so it makes me feel better that at least 4 of us were gunning for him and there was 0% he would make it back to me for my 6th pick. i couldnt have taken him previous round either, cant possibly pass up semtex/alvarez so i guess im just destined to not have one of my top 5 favorite guys. have fun little alligator, luego will treat you well!
04-08-2010 , 05:33 PM
Yeah Jacare was 2nd on my board
04-08-2010 , 05:34 PM
On my way home. Will have my pick up shortly thereafter.
04-08-2010 , 05:35 PM
In my drunken stupor last night I almost convinced myself that I needed to pick Jeff Monson thank god that did not happen.
04-08-2010 , 06:07 PM
haha that would have been worst pick of the draft, and the worst pick ever easily surpassing cung le.

at this point i think JDS by traz is the worst pick. or possibly florian by traz after that. or maybe shields by traz. meh maybe its franklin. i am not sure. i think traz's team is by far the worst though, i think next round he will probably pick the top 125 guy in the world, yall better watch out for jussier da silva

haha, all joking aside though will be interesting to see who you can match those guys up with cause there is still some cool stuff you can do with how deep some divisions are

def see two types of strategies thus far. guys who diversify and try to get BFA first 5 rounds then make cool matchups later for them and guys who really focus in on 1-3 divisions and try to set up cool **** there then branch out later, i suspect it doesnt matter toooo much at this point but who we pick in rounds 7-15 will be really key

Round 6, Pick 3

Forrest Griffin

I debated whether I wanted to dive into phase 2 of my draft, but thought I could hold off another round. That said, Griffin is a perfect segway into my second act. He has tons of name value, is a former UFC champ, and owns wins over two of the sports best fighters in the current era. People will always want to watch him fight because of his "**** it" demeanor and quirky personality.

Roster so far:

HW: ("King" Mo Lawal)
LHW: Lyoto Machida, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Jon Jones, Rashad Evans, "King" Mo Lawal, Forrest Griffin

Round 6: Pick 4
Demian Maia

with jacare gone it doesn't seem likely that maia was gonna last for long, they are clearly the top 2 BJJ practicioners in MMA. i think maia is an interesting pick because of his fight this saturday as well. while it is obviously a long shot, i don't think anyone's stock is in a better position for a meteoric rise than his. i don't think losing to anderson silva really hurts his value all that much either, especially if anderson continues to fight the way he has in his past couple of title defenses.

while some people might not want their top 2 guys in their division to have already fought, i think a rematch between maia and marquardt is perfectly fine. the combination of the ridiculously quick finish in the first fight and maia's performance against sonnen compared against marquardt's leaves plenty of room for their second fight to go differently and i don't think anyone would mind seeing it again.

also lol at all of us for not only allowing mp to get a complete stranglehold on a division as deep as LHW, but also allowing him to make some sick value picks in doing so

HW: Brock Lesnar, Alistair Overeem
MW: Nate Marquardt, Demian Maia
LW: Shinya Aoki, Diego Sanchez

eeerrrr........ i don't think my LHW division is all that shabby dawg

LHW: Rampage Jackson, Gegard Mousasi, (Vitor Belfort), (Wanderlei Silva)
04-08-2010 , 07:17 PM
i was seeing yours as more of a great middleweight division, but definitely sick how you basically have monster divisions in both weight classes at the same time
04-08-2010 , 07:23 PM
I don't think Vitor and Wandy offer much at LHW these days.
04-08-2010 , 07:27 PM
lollll like evans and griffin does
04-08-2010 , 07:30 PM
and let's not pretend vitor wouldnt be about -250 vs king mo
