Woman had no idea that "Stadium Events" was valuable and started the auction at $9.99.

LOL, I use to collect those games. The most expensive one is the Nintendo World Championship gold cart. I think only like 6 of them were made.

Stadium events is pretty rare too.

I bought "Maxi 15" on ebay years ago for 15.00 and now its going for like 200.00. Don't know whether to hold out and see if it increases in value.

I'd wait till the economy picks up so nerds have more disposable cash.

My uncle still has a fully functioning NES set complete with the Duck Hunt gun and the Gyromite thing. Has about 20 games too, but nothing that insane. The dude is a pack-rat though and would never sell it.

The box itself is about 75% of the of the $13k and according to Wikipedia, Stadiun Events is named #6 on a list of 20 “Holy Grails of Console Gaming”, a list that covered all gaming systems in all countries.
That's a hell of a box, the game must be awesome too for $3k.

Apparently to buy every (normal) nes game it cost's $11k

That is MENTAL.

Would never have thought a game could be worth that much

Thought this was going to be about the NWC gold cart. Never heard of "Sadium Events" before. And the wiki page led me to some neat links. Thanks for posting this. Interesting stuff.

And what in the world does the blurb at the bottom of the box mean???
"This Game Pak may not be used with the Mattel(?) or NES versions of the Nintendo Entertainment System"

Wow. I can't imagine why anyone would want to pay 13k for that, regardless of their BR.

Propane, its not about the game itself obviously, its a collectors item and will not lose its value, only gain as wear and tear and people losing their copies get worse

A friend of mine had that game and the mat. I'm sure he must have lost it by now. Should I give him the link?

You guys obviously don't understand how this collecting thing works. Yeah, there's some people who are just ridiculously wealthy and have the money to buy big ticket items but a lot of collectors work themselves up by buying and selling smaller items. They hit the thrifts, yard sales and flea markets and pick up a bunch of cheap games for a couple bucks a pop. Some of them turn out to be worth fifteen or twenty bucks. Every once in a while they might hit a nice score worth fifty or a hundred bucks. Eventually they start trading and flipping carts with other collectors. And if they keep recycling the money their collection and the money they have available to spend on items continues to grow. So they guy who paid $13k for that probably isn't really thinking that he's paid $13K, he's thinking that he'll sell X, Y and Z to pay for it. And if you work your way back up the line of trades and buys, he actually paid very little for X, Y and Z.

Basically identical to poker players who have five, six or seven figure bankrolls and only ever deposited a relatively small amount to start.

Or the guy could work for Microsoft or Google or EA or something and have a ton of disposable income to play with...

Any chance that the game doesn't suck balls? I remember wanting to trade in my old NES but I couldn't part with it...my brother still has it and all of our games, except that one of my friends traded in my Baseball Stars while he was borrowing it

The game also came packaged w/ Mario and Duck Hunt, it was probably that one or the re-release of the game.

My NES came with the game, and I had a friend who had it as well, but his wasn't packaged with the NES, it was separate, but obv the re-release.

I have an archaic video game console chillin in a dusty old apartment in Russia, maybe that ****'s worth something, I got like 30 games for it. Some of the games were actually pretty good.

What's the consensus on old systems? I still have my NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, PS1, and two PS2s. The only system I have plugged in is my 360.

Why am I keeping all of these in a box when I never play them?

Should I just sell all those systems for whatever measly dollars I can scratch out? Or should I keep them around for posterity or some other reason?

What do you all do?

I gave away my N64, but still have my SNES and the old thing I mentioned earlier ITT (I have no idea what the system is called, but the controller only has a left/right button and an A and B button lols), and don't intend to sell them. They're just little relics I have, I guess...

just gave away my ps2 and about 12 games to a student of mine who deserved it.

hurt to give it away, until i realized i had to look to even find the thing, and hadn't played it in years.

the happiness/karma i got from giving it to him and his sister was worth more than the spot in the basement it occupied.

Actually now that I think about all the joy I got from some random family friend giving me a SNES and like 30 games when I was ~8 years old, I'd love to give my systems away to some little kid who's going to have loads of fun with it.

I might be giving away my systems to random nephews of mine and maybe some little kids that are friends of friends.

The biggest mistake ever was buying a GC to play RE4. It got ported later and I think that's the only game I ever played for the GC.

I really should give these things away.

Have Xbox360, gave/sold everything as I stopped playing them (I think i still have my PS2, but i use it occasionally).

I have already decided that i'll keep my copy of FFVII for as long as I live. I really wish I still had Chrono Trigger, FFIV, and FFVI...

That is sick! My buddy collects NES games... I think he is only about 45ish games away from the entire collection of all NES games! He has some odd games that I have never heard of before!
