It's actually not the difficult to do, just need a ton of time. I could make that pretty easily.

Speaking of which, if anybody's got the XBLA version, I'm looking for some help building something similar.

Finally installed a texture pack (Faithful: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/...5-support-145/). Can't believe it took me so long to install one. Makes the game actually look like it was made in the 2010s instead of the 1990s. Cobblestone actually looks pretty decent now.

This is the pack I use after tryin a bunch, if you want a pack that stays faithful to minecraft but tightens and cleans it its definitely this one. I love it

i installed the texture pack and the nether is glitchy as all hell, netherrack has been replaced by water blocks texture and the nether portal looks stupid.

Yeah, the first time I tried to install Faithful, it didn't install at all. I tried again and the fire and lava didn't work.

A few weeks later, I tried again and it works fine. Don't know what to tell you. You did install MCPatcher first, right?

I don't like the way lava looks, but that's pretty much the only block I don't like. Of course, it sucks because the Nether is full of lava, but I'll live with it.

Starting my build:

Pokemon Tower, Water gym, outside. the inside was hollowed out and lined with diamond and then filled in with water.

Pokemon tower: main hall, 2nd floor, looking at the entrance

edit: I should have built bigger, huh. I keep getting the feeling that 10 blocks a floor isn't large enough.

It's depressing when I accidentally click on the Statistics tab of the Pause menu and I see how much time I've spent playing the game.

BTW, new patch is out. Biggest additions are fireworks and changes to the enchanting system. You can enchant books, which you combine with tools via an anvil. Biggest negative change is that there is now a bigger penalty for using the "wrong" tool on an item. E.g., I used to use a diamond shovel on wood because a diamond shovel with Efficiency 4 was so quick (plus I only had to use one diamond instead of 3 for an axe. But I guess enchantments no longer work on the wrong tool. So Efficiency shovels still shovel dirt more efficiently then normal, but it has no effect on wood gathering. So using a shovel to go tree farming is not really possible anymore.

That's actually the main reason I haven't upgraded yet.

Im not depressed yet. I find it incredibly relaxing and interesting but I am a total noob. I went on a public server for a couple hours, basically all I could do was run off on my own and work on random stuff or just fight randos. Back to my single player world for now.

I don't know exactly when tracking of this stat was added, but it's still more than all but (possibly) one other game I've played in my life and I know the main part of my play time was before the stat was added...

It's scary.

it's annoying that stuff resets whenever you change the .jar file for whatever reason, would be interesting to see.

It does?

I'm really worried now... I may have spent more time playing mc than I've actually been alive.

Hey guys. I've come up with what I think is a good and very fun idea for some automated game that could run on a bunch of different Minecraft servers and which could hopefully achieve something near the level of popularity that for example the Survival Games have reached. If it gets done right, there'd be a website, sponsor systems, YouTube channel etc. attached to it.

I don't want to go into specifics about the idea here, but what we'd need to make this happen are good builders of mainly obstacle courses, parkour, labyrinths, races and stuff like that. It'd also be a plus if you were just a good builder of landscapes and buildings in general, but that is less important.

If you're a decent to good builder and you feel like you're interested in working on a semi ambitious Minecraft project (thereby not saying that you should match our drive or motivation, just saying that you'd be working with people who want to preferably make it into something big), then please get back to me with examples of what you can do / let us know that you'd be willing to give it a shot.

They're still updating Minecraft pretty regularly.

1.4.6 came out in December and was pretty minor, breaking sand generators (permanently, apparently) and adding fireworks.

But the weekly snapshots are now coming out for a big 1.5 update called the "redstone update." Among the changes are a redstone comparator (compares the strength of two different redstone signals), a daylight sensor, chests that activate redstone when opened, and hoppers (block placed above chests, furnaces, probably more that load those blocks).

Oh yeah, you can now make nether brick out of netherrack. Also a new nether quartz block.

Pretty minor???!

I'm on a minecraft strike until there's a new way to generate sand!

Spoiler:

LOL. I actually haven't upgraded to 1.4.6 specifically because of the sand generator "fix". I plan on filling several double chests full of sand before I finally upgrade. I think I have 2.5 chests full now. I've made so many buildings out of sandstone simply because I have so much sand. I'm gonna hate not having a sand generator.

I actually never thought of your idea of keeping an old version around just for sand. Thanks for the idea.

well it would work but you'd lose everything you have that is specific for the new update in the process
