Anyone need tickets for $? I have roughly 1100 and want to sell it in big chunks. I've been a 2+2er for about a decade, playing magic for nearly two.

Going to go deep on SoI sealed for the RPTQ. Any advice? Scared I'm going to burn through my practice funds too quickly - MODO is not cheap.

what is the best gameplan for starting? kinda feel like Id get more value playing this instead of paying more for real cards just to play some fnms and maybe a gameday tourney. but good lord this client looks like something that runs on DOS

Constructed is best EV. MTGO is the software ever created. Wait until after rotation (3 weeksish) before buying in. Prices for Standard will crash if you want to play that format. Cards that are good in the eternal formats that are in every deck are finally leaving. Try Cockatrice or Xmage if you want to try decks before buying.

I've played with cards for about two months. only care about standard, my thought was to wait to sign up until after the rotation and hope they put something useful in the couple hundred starter cards you get or there's some bonus.

looks like blue eldrazi is reasonably cheap and good

You get some phantom stuff like drafts, but it's generally worthless

With the bajillions I've spent on draft I'm also considering starting to play standard. Too bad I sold off a couple dozen fetches a couple weeks ago. Hoping I can somehow piecemeal something in the G/B/colourless part of the pie.

arent all the fetches rotating out of standard anyway?

Oh hmm. Never thought of that. I have 4 of all of the recent $3 duals. I assume Eye of Ugin or Temple will get banned soon, too.

Considering how much I spend on draft I have this weird cognitive dissonance where I assume standard is hella expensive but it's actually cheaper. I already have 4 displacers, not-seers, a couple gideons, a couple advocates... Sold off my linvalas and chandras...

I'll think of something.

I wasn't kidding about selling off 1000+ tickets, btw. I know it's sketch but I'm good for it. If you're Canadian it's even easier and I can save you a bunch on the conversion rates.

is this the catch-all mtg thread or only for online?

I signed up for a real-card trading site that gave me about $5 worth of "points" for signing up, and now it says someone is sending me a card I want! sweet deal!

Catch-all. I see you've found pucatrade.

yeah. seems like there will come a time when the site goes bellyup and some people will be stuck with tons of worthless points but the concept works for me right now

edit -- this is with regard to dr zangief's tickets for sale

fwiw, saying that you've been a 2+2er for a decade from an account that's only a couple years old raises flags for me. On a venn diagram of (1) people who are scammers, and (2) people who have to create new accounts, there's probably some non-trivial overlap.

I have no reason to think that you're looking to scam anyone, DZ, but I'm also not sure why anyone would even need to trust you ("I'm good for it") as long as you trade them tix before they send you $ -- then it's just on you to find someone trustworthy.

A hard spot either direction, I suppose.

I got that same deal as you did and was pretty excited to try it out. Ordered 3 cards. 2 showed up right on time, but the 3rd never did. When the admin got involved (the standard procedure for a discrepancy) I was told he didn't think my address existed because he couldn't find it on google maps (despite getting 2 cards + linking him to the google maps page with my address) and so I wasn't getting my points back and they refunded the sender. Tried to follow up, got nothing. Card never did show up.

Conceptually it's pretty cool and should work more often than not, but would hesitate spending any actual money on it.

Edit: I figure they just input the address wrong on google maps, but it was the lack of follow up/changing things when shown they were mistaken that gives me concern on giving them $$$ when you can just get cards you want from other sites that are reputable like channelfireball or starcitygames.

Yeah I agree with all of this. My MTGO account is the same as my original 2+2 name which helps a bit. I was on OOT for a decade before Killa banned me for posting in a thread he didn't like. Had ~130 posts in this thread going back to 2009, too. ^_^

Realistically I'd probably be willing to share my personal details etc. before any transfer. I'm a lawyer so the consequences for me defrauding someone are significantly more than $1k.

Yeah I don't have the greatest experience with them either. When the Twin ban got leaked some ******* sent me them a few minutes after at like 2 in the morning claiming he already shipped them. I attempted to send them back but the site admin wouldn't let me. Jackoffs.

The other problem is some people use stolen credit cards to purchase tickets and then try to sell them afterwhich Wizards has a history of (temporary?) dual account locks etc.

I just know that if I keep that many tickets in my account for too long I'll eventually get high on my own supply with drafts.

the market is VOLATILE. gotta stay up to date on your RESEARCH

Im starting small, currently have a matter reshaper en route and two white anafenzas out the door. if it all works out then i will ship out a couple fetchlands and basically buy a blue eldrazi deck

I suggest not sending out fetchlands via Pucatrade, the pucatrade points trade at $.70 to the dollar. You can do much better for staples like that.

been playing around with some new standard stuff and really like the shell of displacer, avacyn, reflector mage, ojutais command, silkwraps, ojutai, and silumgars scorn in a UWc control shell. displacer has just been so good and its about time ojutais command got to see some more play (plus no doom makes ojutai playable again).

New jace has been pretty good in limited use. Still looking for the right card draw spell (have little jace too and played around with a prerogative). I kind of want to try out a copy or two of confirm suspicions. Investigate 3 times intrigues me. also seems ok with avacyn at the 5 slot? I don't want the 5 mana compulsive research then untap 2 lands as a sorcery really.

Do you play the Drownyard Temple? I doubt there really is any other choice than Prerogative. Comparative Analysis? Epiphany of the Drownyard?

I'm not running the drownyard temple, though I'll give it a chance. I've certainly not gotten the colorless done correctly yet. I've been playing around with various copies of blighted cataracts, mirrorpools, sea gate wreckage, and unknown shores. Mirrorpools have been decidedly irrelevant. Sea Gate also hasn't been great since I'm rarely empty handed. Blighted Cataract has been fine, but I find myself often not wanting to sac it so I can displace. Unknown Shores has been the best of the bunch but is still just an unknown shores.

Basically, anytime I get displacer active it's great but the cost to do so has been pretty real so far. I'm certain there's a set up that's comfortable with the colorless ability without harming the ability to play reflector mage on turn 3 if needed and avacyn on turn 5. Maybe Foundary is something I should try as well.

I'm going to playtest some tomorrow and I'll keep track of which of prerogative/analysis/epiphany would be better in every situation and see if a pattern develops.

Foundry and Oran-reef (which isn't great for you) have been consistently the best colorless lands that survive rotation. You're not really eligible to use Westvale Abbey, so I would suggest those. Rogue's passage is intriguing with Ojutai too but probably is awful since you want to be untapped before and after attacking with him. This coming from someone who really wanted to make Corrupted Crossroads and the lands you mentioned work in BWc. I was of the belief playing my deck that Displacer is a 6 drop if I already had a 3 drop.

Oh, I know how that goes. For me often it's "maybe I'll make a new standard deck...hmm, just for fun I could get the cheaper cards in foil..."
