Just a friendly FYI....Quest for the pure flames are cumulative. I got hit by a geopede w/ warpaint as mentioned above....did 20 damage...and that was first strike before I was hit by the other creatures. I was at 30 having already gained ~30 life. I was playing a stupid triple hedron crab deck.

it feels like a win-more card, but then again they tried to blow me out by activating it with 2 zektar tokens in play

Turn 5, play 2nd expedition, land attack with croc. He just played his gomazoa so summoning sickness.

No block he's at 20. I sac 1st expedition 2 forests, croc is 9/7. I sac 2nd expedition 2 forests, croc is 13/11. I primal bellow for +7/+7. GG 20 => 0.

Landfall is pretty good i hear when it turns all your lands into semi giant growths.

Your opponent seems kind of silly for not blocking there, when you have 1 exped with 3 counters and 1 with 1 counter, he already knows hes going to be eating 13 damage.

If he blocks, he stunts your growth if you wait to get through with the croc to crack the expeditions.

I'm not sure I block there either if I were him. Taking 13 would be fine with me with a gladeheart on board and getting the gomazoa active would put him in a much better board position than needlessly losing it to a croc a turn earlier. But I think if he blocks, he's still screwed unless he plays a creature with toughness >3 as I can vines + disfigure next turn in addition to the massive pumps for 22 dmg if I miss my land drop.

So I started playing this on xbox live after never really getting into this game and now I really love it.

It looks like you guys play on the PC? Is that the best way to play w/o real cards?

yeah, you can download the client from http://mtgoinstaller1.onlinegaming.w...III_Helper.exe

takes a LONG time to launch after installing.

Try out the trial first on the login screen. There are 5 freeplay decks built with the M10 set that you can use to play other players in the freeplay lobby. When you're comfortable with those 5 decks you should probably try out drafting it (m10) since you'd be familiar with the set. It's not a great format but it will be the best way to get used to drafting with cards you already know.

You can move over to Zen after you learn how to draft.

So I decided to jump into online because draft is just way too much fun to play only once a week.

I played through a couple drafts and I'm quite comfortable with the software now. Got passed a couple fetches and felt obligated to take them...

... but I don't plan on playing any non-limited formats. What's the best way to get value for my cards?

Is there a simple way to "convert" cards into tickets or packs? How about packs into tickets and vice versa? Is it just, win packs in tourney then sell cards to trade bots for tickets? I'm seeing non-integer prices. Curious how the trade bots will work.

Also, it looks like card values are completely different online. I'm in the trade channel and I'm seeing fetches going for 4.5-7 tickets, maybe they're not worth rare drafting?

Also, is there a way to link my online profile to my DCI profile? I want this to count for my rating.

Sorry for the onslaught of noob questions. If there's a good guide on getting aquainted with these sorts of things for newcomers, I'd love to know about it. Either way, I'll see you guys at the ZZZ 8-4s and maybe Swiss.

Rares are worth less online, but anything worth 5+ is definitely worth taking probably every single time. Trading to bots is the easiest way to get tickets for your cards.

This looks like something I would really be down to play, since I found out that it's a huge pain in the ass to play on a mac. If they could do a mobile phone version as well that would be awesome.

Do the math. If the tourney is costing you ~14 tickets then taking anything that's 5-7 tix is definitely worth it. I generally take anything 3+ every time but I'm greedy like that. 1 card out of 40, even your first pick, neither hurts nor helps your game enough to warrant forfeiting what represents such a huge chunk of money compared to hypothetical winnings.

its probably well below 5 where you benefit more, I mean 4tix is a free match win, no card in draft has that level of power in a 8/4, 3 is likely enough, I think once you get into the 2 range it gets tricky, and depends on how good of a card you are passing

Agreed with bottomset. If you guys are raredrafting cards only 4+, lol. A few sessions with Cardbuyingbot will help you to understand which uncommons and commons you should take. I auto first-pick any rare worth 3. Not close. The card has to be INSANELY good for me to take it over a 2 ticket rare.

GPT tomorrow, I'm 20pts away from my second bye so I'm hoping I can just pick those up and drop, its a good sealed format and GP MN is only 4hrs away which is nice, not sure I can make it to any of the GPs next season
