Would it be ridiculous to say C9 is overvaluing the wrong things in the first phase against CDEC? For example, picking wisp in both first phases, also banning tusk/undying too.

i think ppl overhype the "pocket strat" ****. I'm sure C9 would have been smart enough to use some pocket strat against CDEC if they had them. The series was literally for a million dollars.

well nobody in the winner bracket has any kind of pocket strats, except mayyyybe EG vs col. cause they just want to secure guaranteed top 6 and lotssss of monies

But the 8 teams in losers might have some tricky **** for bo1s

at least to me, feels like your EV is a lot higher if u can use some hidden strat to lock up top 6. now C9 is at risk of being in 9th-12th place and only winning 200k, and even if they win the round after that they still only lock up 800k.

i was kind of surprised c9 didnt run techies against cdec since they seem to have revealed that as a weakness against EG, but maybe c9 just doesnt run the hero

they just seem to struggle with drafting in general

in the first game, leaving the winter wyvern counterpick was horrific

i liked the 2nd draft better except that it seemed reactionary, also picking wisp into lina was a bit risky



i also wonder whether they overvalued furion because they wanted to go for a gimmicky courier snipe - it was a lot of fun, but they didn't seem to have nearly as good a plan for the rest of the game

yeah so far seems like Secret, EG, CoL and possibly newbee are the only ones shown to be running techies (newbee played him once, with a tiny - no wisp ).

furion pick had nothing to do with sniping courier imo, just a little quirk.

I think they just wanted to go all in on pushing. That team shoudlve been able to secure a rax pretty early.

And then you can switch it up to ratting instead fo 5 man with prophet, once lanes pushes are inevitable with a rax locked down
