bought the titan helmet from xur even though i prefer defender and it may not have made sense

Best/quickest way to get a lot of vanguard points or whatever to buy purple gear? Just been roaming around in patrol and it seems to be decent. Not great though.

the absolute fastest way seems to be to join a faction, when you're in one of them every repuation point you get go to the faction level and isn't split between vanguard and crucible.

good way for vanguard marks is to do the loop of public events in Cosmodrome: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGa...ks_in_under_4/ good fun for a bit too

Joining a faction early is also a good way to earn Legendary gear quickly.

i did future war cult (im hunter gunslinger) i wanted a fast cool down on my gold gun and grenades so i needed intel and discipline

i got the boots and the chest from future war cult and then i realized it boosted my intel/defense stats enough that i could probably add in some strength to get my throwing daggers to cool down faster so i am now working on getting the crucible vendor to level 2 so I can get my helmet and glove legendary with strength on them

it all depends on characters and what you want to do with your build my approach was going to be full on war cult gear for max intel and discipline but once i saw they were both over 75% i decided that i was going to use gear from two diff vendors

maybe three in the future who knows!

How bad am I screwed at level 18 if I never joined a faction?

I wasn't sure what they were so I never paid much attention to them.

You can't join a faction until level 20.

What is joining a faction exactly? YOCO is not a faction I'm assuming.

YOCO is just the 2+2 guild.

To join a faction you talk to the faction representative (Future War Cult, Dead Orbit, New Monarchy) and buy the faction class armor. When you equip it (hunter's cloak, titan mark, warlock bond) all rep you get will go towards the faction rather then vanguard or crucible. Each faction has different armor/weapons and you need to rank up to buy it, similar to how the Vanguard and Crucible vendors work.

Did servers go down for anyone else?

Not super happy with the game. It is a good game and I'm not sorry I bought it, but I don't know how long I can keep my mind on the grind. Might have to get a Bone for Halo.

Does the higher impact damage upgrade for guns cross over to crucible? I know the other ones do but seems like that one wouldn't.

Also I luckboxed an exotic scout rifle. It's really good for pve but i do much better with an auto in crucible. Is a scout rifle a viable option in pvp and i just suck?

everybody is better w/ different things, for crucible just look at the perks with the weapon to decide if its worth it

The thing with PvP is that you're basically outfitted optimally if you're running:

Primary: Assault Rifle
Secondary: Shotgun or Fusion Rifle (or Sniper on exactly one map - that lame Moon map)
Heavy: Machine Gun

Every other primary is mediocre no matter how good a weapon it is. Pulse Rifles suck because the delay in firing means you die between bursts. Scout rifles suck because if you miss you die and the delay between shots means you probably die anyway. Hand cannons are viable because they hit so hard and their headshot box is so big, but they're still inferior.

im at phogoth the heroic weekly plz halp i cant beat him solo

kruze - if you head left at the entrance, there is a rock in the corner you can hide behind where phogoth cant really get to you, and enemies wont swarm. some videos on youtube.

other people use the strategy of hiding in the room before you enter the main room, and fleeing back one more room when the shrieker spawns.

I haven't joined a faction yet and I am almost to rank 3 with the crucible, I wouldn't worry.
