I bought one with tree cut gems the day before going to TH9 when all my storages and collectors were full. had about 24 hours and nothing else to do. was nice not to have to do anything for a day. had enough gems left over to gem myou spell factory and I never use them for anything else. .

Because I didn't want to log on and wanted a day off for what is essentially $1. I knew the next week of my life would be consumed with th9. Also had lots of gems because I never use them. felt I earned the luxury.

Gems for shields is stupid, and buying gems for shield is idiotic. Even if everything's full and you don't want to lose, what, 300-500k of your precious resources? Just take the hit like a man and farm back those resources when you get back

He's mad because I don't play 100% optimally (in his eyes) but will soon pass him while having played half as long. Give it a rest.

I assume you think barrack boosting is optimal usage of gems?

No, just what do you use yours for? Unless it's for completing 14 day upgrades instantly it's not optimal.

Never tried to say that buying a shield was smart from an optimal game play POV. Only that it was going to save me an hour or two on a day when I didn't want to play.
