streaks are easier in afterbirth imo, i wouldnt do that greed trick personally

id not include keeper in any streaks but i think the lost is fairly easy to win with now if you just go to blue baby

I finally finished my Keeper card. Only Mega Satan and Hush on Samson and Lazarus left to go.

I cannot tell you how many good runs I've ****ed up by going too hard on a blood bank with Swallowed Penny and accidentally killing myself with the Keeper.

First item room: Tech X
Swallowed Penny out of a pot in the item room.
I went to the Self-Sacrifice room and it teleported me to the Angel Room where I was given Dead Dove. Next play of the spikes spawned Sacred Heart in the room.

I got a few other damage upgrades along the way. It's easily the most powerful run I've ever had. My laser ring was moving super slowly because of Sacred Heart and the Boss Rush bosses were dying the moment they spawned because of how the timing of my shots worked out. Every single room just melted instantly.

**** the Keeper.

Perfect time to quit?

I found a new (to me) twitch streamer to watch, larsfest. He is currently doing an Eden streak that has reached 400+ wins. Usually guys that play very methodically can be a bit dry to listen to but larsfest is pretty entertaining and has a few silly gimmicks and impressions sprinkled in to spice things up.

Northernlion is still the best combo of play and commentary imo but he is way sloppier.

I also found this guy for the second time ever. The first time I blew him up just as I realised who he was. This time I donated a few bombs which gave a few bombs back before the little fella blew himself up with a troll bomb:

Yeah, also some day Afterbirth will show up on the PS4 which is a perfectly valid reason to start all over again.

6666 hours perhaps?

When he says this is the end is he saying there will be no further sequels or add ons?

Just started playing this. I used my tax refund this year to get a new video game console and this was one of the games I purchased based on reviews I had seen. It's the only game I've played since I hooked up the system a week ago - it's so addictive I haven't wanted to play anything else.

I went in cold but have since looked up the items and some basic strategy. I still suck pretty hard but have had a couple of incredible runs with rands so good even I was killing everything in one shot.

One question - I'm close to unlocking Everything is Terrible - how much harder will the game get when that happens? Because I already find it pretty damn hard and I'm just playing with Issac on normal mode.

I'm having a ton of fun with this game. I'm still new enough that I get a huge thrill when I unlock a new item or the fact that I made it to Mom's heart twice today. But the knowledge of how hard it gets with different characters and challenges and the amount of stuff I still have left to do is pretty daunting.

It's hard to answer if it's definitely harder. The thing is - you get access to bigger (and stronger) pool of items, you get to learn synergies, learn new tactics and improve overall and it no longer feel harder but normal. Don't focus on unlocks, just keep playing the game and everything will come eventually. Took me 300+ hours to unlock everthing in Rebirth then in Afterbirth, combined expected should be probably much less (can't explain why without spoilers). Personally unlocks are always what drives me playing in Isaac, I'm having a blast for 200-300 hours unlocking everything, then once it's done I just quit and have no regrets.

Well I just triggered it this morning so I guess we'll see when I come home tonight.

I never played the original and I'm still getting all the enemy patterns down, I still take a lot of damage that I'd probably be able to dodge if I knew what was coming. This is particularly true in the womb - at least half my runs in there so far have been when I managed to luck box an OP set up and was one shot killing everything, so I never learned how to defeat the enemies. When I go down there now with a strong but not nuclear set up I'm like WTF is this **** how do I beat this thing?

Game is a blast tho. I've never played anything like it so wasn't sure I'd love it but my god it's good.

Oh, to be new to Isaac again.

The enemy that killed me the most in the beginning were the heart/mask combos. Walking into a room with 4 sets of those was a one way ticket to the starting screen.

Have you made any deals with the devil yet?

Normally I am jealous of RJ'S ability to be ginger and still have a soul, now I have something new to be jealous of her about.

Welcome to the fold, enjoy the next 500 hours you put into it.

Yeah, quite a few. I'll take anything with a shot at getting more damage or flight.

Yeah beginning Isaac was a blast. I want to get back into it a bit, but Gungeon is a thing.

Isaac is great. Put hundreds of hours into the original and rebirth. Still haven't done too much in Afterbirth though so I'm looking forward to finally doing that. Super jealous about you getting to experience it all for the first time.

Heh I guess there's a plus side in being late to the party.

To be fair I had heard of the game (the original) but my old Wii wouldn't play it, and my desktop is far too obsolete to handle gaming. But when I upgraded I was like, might as well see if I like it, not like it's super expensive and all the reviews are excellent.

Also I think this is pretty accurate relative to the increase in difficulty, I played tonight after work and it didn't seem like the difficulty spiked a great deal. Depending on the items you get off the bat it was about the same. Although if there is one really basic enemy I could get rid of it's those goddamn spiders. They are so erratic and I'm still terrible at dodging.

I did, for the first time, get two item rooms and two boss rooms in the basement. I assume that's just a random thing that can happen like 1% of the time or something? Was excited to see two item rooms, then fought boss 1 and was like wait, there's no trap door, just another boss room door. Forunately one of the bosses was one I consider super easy at this point.

Yep that's the XL floor. 2 item rooms and 2 bosses

Oh, okay, didn't know that was a thing.

Was playing again this morning before work (like most of my free time lately), picked up 20/20 to start, managed to get a decent build but not great when I went into the womb but I was hoping I could find a room with all the hearts down there as I had a decent amount of HP (just empty at the moment because I suck balls at dodging, also why I had no devil deals this run) But figured what the hell, not a super great build but I could get lucky and I had holy mantle to give me an extra hit per room, which I sorely need because **** me I cannot dodge to save my life. Beat Loki without damage, got an angel deal, and it gave me - the shield.

Well all right then. About time you gave me just the right item at just the right time. Found the heart restock room right before the Mom boss and it was game over. Although I did somehow got Bob's brains 3 of my first 4 runs today. :P Thanks I love blowing myself up.

Oh and I actually had to beat the heart twice - I defeated it, and as it was going to the cut scene, the damn game crashed. I knew from past experience that meant I'd have to redo that level (although just that level). **** you game.

Have unlocked the first seven endings so far.

I know that's no big deal to you guys, having put in hundreds of hours already, but I still get a pretty big thrill beating the heart. I know a few more defeats and it'll unlock Sheol and the Cathedral permanently.

I know I should switch to hard mode soon so I can start getting those unlocks but I still find the game challenging in normal mode.

I suggest not playing hard mode until you've at least beaten the chest in normal. You still have a lot more to learn.
