My parents television set (a like 10 year old 50" analog set) died the other day and they are currently watching this like 28" set and it just pains me on the inside.

They paid for all of my college expenses and they recently paid for all of my court costs for my DWI (which was like 1kish).

SO, their anniversary is coming up in a few weeks and I want to ship a brand new, pimp TV to them.

I'm looking to spend anywhere from 800-1500 and they have said they were thinking of buying a 42in+ since they are getting older and can't see as well.

They don't have any type of surround sound or anything and would basically be content with anything that worked for a long time and had a nice picture.

Anyone want to help a brother out and send some recommendations?

My parents are in the exact same situation, except that we've already been through a trial with a 46" LCD tv from Sony and my dad thought that it was too big for the room lol... since he sits like 8 feet away from the screen, so we're probably gonna get a 40" screen. But we're not sure what kind, either plasma or LCD. I really like the LCD but it only comes in great with HD channels, and not nearly enough channels are HD. So they might be going with Plasma but I'm not sure. The first 46" they tried was roughly about $2100 if I remember correctly at the cheapest place they could get it with discounts.

Look for deals at local Best Buy/Circuit City/Whatever imo. My cousin recently got a 47ish" LCD 1080p for like 1200 or something and it's pretty balla iyam.
