I will say, that if you're lacking motivation then another challenge will help in that regard, but the subsequent month...well, I was personally lacking motivation until I forced myself to put in some serious volume over last week/weekend. idk, I think the challenge in and of itself was an awesome idea, but...it just left me a little burned out with regard to poker. I'm sure it's different for the people who play full time, but for me, a part-timer/hobbyist, it really killed my motivation at the beginning of Aug. (i.e. I'm just recently recovering/needed a 2 week break from the tables).

Aftermath of the FR challenge is The DOG is touring the micros.....

I tried keeping my FR challenge pace up in August logged like 50k of hand in the first 10 days and ended up burnt up and spat out.

I think there are prolly some other good ideas you could setup without a FR challenge. I will participate if it starts after I am out of the lower regions of Pokerstars.

Thanks for the linkies CV will check it out when I am done today.

What I want to know vis-a vie the purging of DB is I have like a million hands and how would I go about storing them. Sorry if that is an exceedingly techno-noob question.
I will miss having 20k hands on pedro and Sk.at tilt..

I agree with knn, I burned out a bit after it instead of playing at my leisurely pace. But considering I have won the past 2 challenges, I guess i have to go for a 3peat.

It will be a while before I do a hand based and winrate challenge again but I'll happily do something like a higest VPIP and winrate over 15k hands or something would be fun. Might help un-nit this forum aswell.

Chip, another vote for "it was fun but let's think of a non-volume related challenge" next time.

Would there be any interest in a HU challenge like they are doing in the higher stakes forums? I'm no good but think it would be fun if we did a small BI. Have it be more about the glory of the win than in the prize money.

Going to buy a nice bottle of wine with poker money and relax for the evening. By the way CDL, don't know if you saw my comment in the SS chat thread, but there are considerably better Mexican restaurants in the chapel hill/durham area than Chipotle...just my .02.
yea, i saw. I agree, but chipotle is so fast and convenient when I am likely to need to be getting to class or drinking at one of my balla pools in the afternoon.

I bought a new mattress today, Simmons BeautyRest. It comes in tomorrow and will hopefully be super comfortable. Probably more +EV than pillows.

Also, since you have so much free time you should probably head out to shooters this week. I think tomorrow then thur-sat are supposed to be pretty good although you might be too old for that scene .

i thought you had to play 20k hands or something? why was everyone so burned out? i'm shooting for 80k hands next month so i'd be cool with a challenge for motivational purposes. plus i didn't get to play in the last one cause i'd cashed out most of my roll.

I just hate forcing myself to play, which is what I was doing in the competition. I don't grind just for the sake of putting in hands.
08-18-2008 , 08:07 PM
gonna play abit more $5nl to build my roll up.

Withdrew most my roll to buy a new computer and i'm not playing $25nl comfortably with the little i have remaining.

I've made a propbet with friend to play more hands than him from tomorrow until the end of next month so i have the motivation to get in the hands now.

On a side note, does anyone know why a defrag program would stall before finishing the defrag? Everytime I run it it can't get past 60-70%?
Take a look at this

Not sure if it works, but may be worth a shot.
