Woke up to snow on the ground today. Now i remembered why I left Calgary. Supposed to drive across the city tonite to meet up with some friends for MNF but think I'm going to cancel. Big city rush hour combined with bad weather doesn't sound like fun to me.

But really, it's kind of like maybe a massive overbet shove on the river with the nuts. It only has to work a small % of the time to be EV+

Too lazy to quote previous reply about AZ. I agree it's getting pretty bad here. Traffic gets worse every year. Drivers get angrier. Summers get hotter. I'd say we are about 70% of the way to being LA. Don't blame you for bailing. My life goal is still to get a plane right now haha (a guy can dream!). Then So Cal, Colorado, and Vegas are all 2 hours. That would open up the weekend possibilities immensely.

So sorry picture broke...I would draw it w/ Sharpie for you if I could.

Do you have your pilots license? If not, are you going to get one? That would be so much fun. Mid-life lesson: You should do things that are fun as much as possible.

On another note, somehow a fly got into my apartment and it has put me on tilt so bad. I'm trying to play poker and it keeps landing on my hand. I'll grab something to kill it with, and it hides. As soon as I lay it down, its back and buzzing me again. This is more tilting than a bad beat on the felt.

It'll even out a bunch when CJ has his bye.

This week wasn't so great, either.

Jacksonville had him bottled up until the end of that game but let him score.

All of a sudden the Titans are kinda good.

Parity in the NFL just makes things a lot more random imo

LOL Fly themed post. ^^^

TL;DR answer.

I don't have my pilots license... yet. Going to be positive and say yet lol. I got to fly in small planes a bunch when I was about 11. My mom was taking lessons. They had a cancellation policy where she still had to pay if it was within 24 or 48 hours or something. So she let me take her lessons if she was sick or just plain exhausted from working. Then I started hanging out at the airport with her instructor after school. I was a latch key kid and she didn't want me to get into too much trouble so some how she worked out that arrangement. The instructor was trying to rack up hours for his commercial license, so in between his students we would go flying a lot. It was awesome and I've loved small planes ever since. He treated me like one of his students when we were flying. At the time I figured I would have my pilots license when I was 17 and maybe do it for a living. Then I learned it costs money to fly apparently and that the job isn't what it used to be! Who knew

We move to Phoenix shortly after that and my mom picked up horses instead of planes lol. I'm not joking at all when I say flying probably would have been way less expensive for her in the long run. She loves horses though.

Fast forward almost 20 years and I still haven't done it. College, student loans, the usual.

But I think I can pull it off next year if my company doesn't fold. I have a friend who got his license and bought a plane. It isn't anywhere near as bad as I thought if you can get in with the right people (mechanics, instructors, etc). I was always looking at the advertised prices. I think I can do it for about 1/3 the sticker price. Especially if I team up with another person or two. He actually might be selling his next year. I could probably have that for about the same payment as a new car. Suddenly my old no-car-payment Tacoma doesn't look so bad.

If only I was SSNL balla hah.

I really really want my pilot's license when there comes a time in my life i can afford it.
10-26-2010 , 03:57 PM
I worked with a guy who got his pilots license and then pooled up with other pilots for the plane, gas, etc costs so that what they couldn't afford individually, was affordable to them combined.

He also bought a Ducati right around that time which was probably why he couldn't afford the plane, etc on his own...gotta make sacrifices sometimes.

Mmmmmmmmmm sexy porn ITT! Yeah, I haven't decided if I'm willing to sell my bike to get a plane... LOL choices.

I think there are a few people that I might be able to sucker... I mean get to go in with me. That will definitely make it way easier. If I do it, I'm actually planning to buy before I even take lessons. Sounds crazy, but that would save about 3k right there. Of course the flip side is that something really expensive can insta-break when you get it and the plan totally backfires. But EV+ is EV+ right? Can't be results oriented lol. Partners would also lessen the risk of surprise bills.

Speaking of which:

You don't near Phoenix do you? haha. Are you still in school? It would def be hard to pull off while trying to pay your way through school.

If I do it, I'll let you know how the attempted cost savings go.

Edit: Damn, just gotta say again that is a sexy bike. Riding a Ducati around Italy is also on the bucket list.

Stopped at about midnight last night in serbia with Joop and Borloo to get gas, ended up sitting watching MNF for 20 minutes.

So a french guy a Dutch guy and an American are watching MNF in Serbia...
10-27-2010 , 06:32 AM
Why would MNF be on at a gas station in Serbia.

If I were a Serbian gas station attendant, I would probably have no interest in handegg...
