Maybe I thought you were Cpar or something. Yeah I'm part of a training site because I get it free with rakeback but also have a coach. Considering I'm pretty overolled for my stake, but still think I'm not awesome, I feel like my coach is pretty +ev. That being said I've also had one before which was pretty much money down the drain and I think for the majority of people coaches don't work well enough for money invested. (Sorry for bringing up a topic that has been beaten to death)

i've been checking it out and man, I think PTR's premium is way worse for poker than UB's lack of encryption code

so isn't ptr prem just like another HUD? with a lot more hands, of course.

yea pretty much. I don't think its such a big deal for HU tho. Your stats change a decent amount from opponent to opponent, so getting someone's overall 3bet, cbet, or turn c/r % isn't that big of a deal. Clearly you will be playing differently against a huge fish than you will if you play a good reg at 5/10.

People are going to overreact to this like they do with every new thing that comes out. I DO think that stars/ftp should do something about PTR and make it impossible to use while playing since datamining is illegal. But the sky isn't falling...

I assume that he's a fish and you want ftp to ban him or something?

He probably sucks, yes, but most importantly he's likely a douchey, bum-hunting regfish..

you don't think those type of player checks someone's ptr before they sit, what described here sounds more like a hit and run specialist that just wants to win a few bb and then leave, what he said was probably just an excuse that he thought is better than instant leave. Those guys are 95% big big losers in the long run.

If your life were "Entourage", you would be Turtle... except more pathetic. If your life were "King of the Hill", you would be Bill, except without 3 friends... If your life were Seinfeld, you would be Newman, except without decent income.

I think it's about time that we start combating PTR ourselves. One of my accounts has a ******ed note on it that I "hit and ran for 10bbs"... I didn't realize until today that lots of people read into that, alongside a pretty good PTR.

Maybe we somehow get together a group of trustworthy people (return losses/winnings) and start really messing up our data. The ideal situation would be that everyone dumps to one main account, so all but that one go hugely negative, and then re-distribute. Obviously this requires an insane amount of trust but meh... I think it's time to fight fire with fire.

i'd be up for doing something vs PTR but this may get us in trouble vs the sites themselves. our other options are to pm ftp/stars support, starts threats in internet poker or wherever these guys read, bump suggestions threads.

if we want sites to at least read our concerns we should point at how PTR hurts their bottom line. they don't really give a **** about a bunch of regs but if we show them how PTR together with predatory bumhunting practices diminish the number of games, which in turn translates into less rake for the sites, we may get through.

Full tilt keep saying that they are dealing with the problem of PTR, or have things in the pipeline. They've been saying this for over a year now though and every time they have a big update PTR seems to be back on within the day. I think whoever is behind PTR must be pretty smart.

well the only real ways they can stop PTR is by allowing people to change their usernames or by not allowing table observing, both of which aren't ideal solutions.

why do you think changing name is not an ideal solution?

from the perspective of full tilt or any other poker site, it's probably not. i don't know the details, but it seems like a lot of work for them to implement.

i strongly belive its good for the games, especially hu, if sites would "autoreset" screennames on 1st of every month.

When i read this last night, i was really drunk and was 100% sure you were just making a joke.

...rereading it, I feel like you were at least semi-serious. Obv this could get you in lots of trouble with stars/ftp.
