This thread really makes me sick. How is it possible that nothing has been done about that scammer and cheater ? It also looks like some of the site's executives gave permission to Doosh so that he can get away with colluding left and right. Maybe they got some % of that money won from cheating ? I hope no one keeps on playing there...

similar case to John Higgins in snooker... digging up dirt would make the whole sport/game a farce- a lose/lose situation for the powers that be. Shame really as this guy basically committed fraud and now he's disappeared off the face of the earth with his fraudulent winnings.

It's been more than 2 years now. Still no updates from 888. There was no money refunded. Did anyone hear about updates?

I am including a summary of this case in a submission to the UKGC. My working assumption is that this thread died because those who were cheated were required to sign Non Disclosure Agreements NDA) to get compensation.

I also seem to recall that I read that the Humberside police passed a file to the CPS but no prosecution resulted but I can see no reference to that within the thread.

Can anyone confirm either the NDAs or the referral to the CPS who then did nothing?

To my knowledge 888 silently took the money and that was it.

Nobody was contacted, nobody was refunded.

One of the players got a number and phoned the CEO a year later but couldn't get much out of him except for the usual bs.

There are no strings to pull, unfortunately.

I will include the case in the submission to the UKGC who are supposed to be the people to investigate and prosecute UK cheats and will likely license 888 soon.

I will be suitably rude about 888.

On the plus side, there is no statute of limitations on UK cheating law. I am arguing that the UKGC needs to prosecute to get case law within the submission. Shame if Darren is in the frame for a test case....

Not to forget: Woods did the same thing on ipoker too. I contacted a pretty high guy from one of the biggest ipoker skins that I know personally. Was told they have not enough evidence of any wrongdoing.

Sorry to hear about the cheating and scamming that is going on, I don't play poker but found this thread after searching for more info on Darren. Darren is well known on the UK festival circuit and has previous for scamming eg: http://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/t...ren-luckhurst/. You can also find his numerous Facebook pages using those names. I have only read the 1st couple of pages of this thread and then the last. I don't know if what I have posted will help anyone out there but it's a start. I know this to be the same guy, as he has alluded to the fact that he has made a lot of money playing online poker. In regards to darren woods I went to school with him hung with him and he stole my Id and got me in **** I'm.a key witness to this.

People should be careful in this thread. In fact it might make sense to lock it until the court case is over. This is a jury trial, now the stuff in the past and still on the Interwebs is just a given but there are reporting restrictions and stuff in the UK when a trial is ongoing.

No juror should be allowed anywhere near 2+2 during the trial but people should still refrain from saying anything that implies the accused is guilty or rehashing the evidence now whilst the trial is on.

I must say though I am well pleased that finally the UK is prosecuting poker cheating cases. Now let's let the jury come to a fair verdict.

Edit: The max penalty for cheating is two years in gaol and a fine BTW, the fraud would be concurent if found guilty of that too.

Just catching up with this thread but just to confirm this is categorically not the same person.

Strangely enough though, I still have the person this thread IS referring to on my Facebook friends list and he has also changed his surname to a different one on there. Bit bizarre that there seem to be two people named Darren Woods out there who enjoy scamming others and changing their name.

I would really appreciate it if those posters who have access to local newspaper reports on this story could keep us updated as to any developments. Thanks.

He enters a not guilty plea to all charges. This court is near me.

Woods changes plea to "guilty" in nine out of the 13 fraud charges.
