Well it's the style thread and chinos, boat shoes and polos are a part of that.

Speaking of, I just bought my first two pairs of chinos. One grey and one light brown. Do boat shoes seem to be the norm to wear with them? Any other shoe options? I don't really have any shoes that go with them and have been looking around.

You can choose from a wide range, chinos are extremely versatile.

I actually don't own a single polo. Was just looking for casual wear during the spring/fall besides jeans. Thanks though.

But Westminster yields the same shoe. Not sure what's up with that.

Indeed a very beautiful shoe. I think, I am going to pull the trigger in the summer.
i have almost this exact shoe from C&J, but mine is distressed leather or whatever. i beat the **** out of em. they are awesome.

When people are talking about polos ITT, they are talking about the type of shirt. That guy just buys a lot of Ralph Lauren.

Nothing wrong with polos, chinos, and boat shoes. There's a right way to go about wearing that, and a wrong way.

No. Evening wear requires a suit.

I have 3 pairs right now, and probably will buy another pair soon. I have two Sperries and a Sebago pair. I don't really like the Sebagos. They don't really fit well on my feet, and I find them to be heavy and clunky.

I'd just start with an original Sperry. They're $85 (on the Sperry website, maybe less other places) and there are plenty of browns that should do nicely.

For boatshoes most shades of brown are fine, in sperry i think the go tos are sahara/oatmeal. Outside of brown, navy isnt at bad choice. Solid is best and msot versatile obv.

not trolling, I really find them way too classy for <25, just my opinion

class·y [klas-ee, klah-see] adjective,
of high class, rank, or grade; stylish; admirably smart; elegant.

Thank you for the compliment.

In all seriousness, you might be surprised. When I first started giving a damn about fashion I thought any shoes with broguing were for old people as well. But I've been shocked at how often my tan wingtips get complimented by girls and asked about from guys (where I got them, etc). Currently only own that one pair with broguing but will be adding a few more here soon.

One thing when posting in SL is you have to realize who certain people are. A lot of people here are no longer in college, some are, some are not in college but live in college town, some live in big cities. in terms of style C&J makes amazing shoes, if you want to throw down near a grand on something.

Boat shoes are something i would recommend for the college kids or even in a beach place, obv not suitable for the work place, or if you are living in a place like NYC or Chicago or even a place where it doesnt really get much over 70.

A lot of people itt are not in college and the style they recommend is more suitable for young professionals, especially in fashion forward cities where wearing 600$ pair of dress shoes to an upsacle lounge is acceptable. You wear those shoes to a sports bar ina college town and you will get laughed at(but probably still be able to score a bish nomsayin?)

The appropriate style for a dance bar in a college town is something that someone like henry would never recommend wearing, but hes not going to college bars. So make sure you understand what you need in the context of where and what you are doing in life. Also important though is to realize eventually you are going to leave school so its important to understand what clothes you can buy that can work in both a college scene and young professional scene.

There are different levels of fashion and personal style depending on where you live and what you are doing. That said 99% of college kids can use a serious fashion upgrade.
