Honestly, I think that is a city/social circle dependent thing. I make a ****load of money, dress very nicely, etc, but because I roll in the elitist Northeast US circle, I don't stand out for that at all.

I think that might be more unique in Ottowa (where you live, right?) or in a social scene where 80% of the people aren't from money.

I agree w/ that strongly w/ the exception of NYC and LA, both places where you can get into social scenes where pretty much every girl around is an 8+.

I have to agree with Thremp. I have a place in Europe and at least in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, and the Uk it is just as much a factor as it is in NA.
