Why is there not a "ring event" for PLO during this event? I see there is an 8-or-better ring event but not a PLO one. Next year, perhaps?

Im staying bout 15mins from Choctaw on lake Texoma for the winter. I'm originally from Dallas. If anybody has any ?'s about the to and from, here or there pm me, and I'll do what I can.

First guess would be rent a car over cab from Dallas. The cab drivers there are just too up in the air.. Any trip originating from DFW to any outlying suburb is $35 to start off. Your better off calling the small cab co. in Sherman/Durant and scheduling a pick-up from their end ($100-150), or doing some leg work and hiring a sedan for a flat rate in advance. Again rent a car is the way togo.

I'll try post a few numbers of drivers I have used before, after they get me some info. I used cabs, and drivers in Dallas for over 15years as I do not drive. Bar/Nightclub industry...

The new Choctaw casino and hotel, is very nice for an Indian Casino in the sticks. The pics/promos stuff you see, is from the new wing. The poker room has I'd say 50 tables, give or take, is less than a year old? is on its own floor, has all separate amenities. Not sure if that is where the event will be tho?

3.2 beer fwiw (buy beer in Texas imo) , and used to have weird cutoff hours and limits. I think that has just changed. Scotty will no longer have to buy the bar, to quench his friends thirst beyond legal, hours/limits

Beyond the Casino there is absolutely nothing to do, out side of a bowling alley, movies etc.

anyone getting into the airport after 830 or 9 thursday night and want to share a cab or rental car? i thought my roommate and i had a ride but don't anymore.

We have 2 events that we can choose to be NOn No-Limit Holdem. I chose Omaha 8 or better and HORSE. I will consider next year but with only 2...you gotta convince me why PLO should be one of them....

8 or better is in the horse rotation and PLO is not is one reason. Second, PLO is the most exciting game out there as opposed to any limit snoorefest.
I am counting the days down till this tournament. Unfortunately, I can only play main event but am as excited as I have ever been for a tournament outside of the WSOP. Thanks for all you did Jimmy in response to the players here on 2p2. See you in a few weeks!!

8 or better and horse are both good choices over plo, good job jimmy

I prefer O8 and HORSE, but I think PLO likely is a better choice, given the frequency with which non-NLHE games go at Choctaw. I hope this is likely to change, but I know it's not likely.

Given the lack of O8 at Choctaw at all (the PLO8 game hasn't gone in months from what I can determine) and the lack of stud games everywhere in the area, I think HORSE has a ton of value in the tournament, but I think it may have limited appeal.

That said, I love them both dearly and wish I could play all the O8 tourneys. Pesky job situation! (I have one. I don't have one. I have contract work. Drat, sort of.)

I think i disagree. I would always put the 2 events that I think that would attract the most participation to be the "ring" event. Interesting that you think PLO would attract more.

Remember that alot of Omaha 8 or better players will travel to play these 2 events.
