How HARD could it possibly be to make this a reality? Am I the only one thinking Sci-fi here?
All entries have to be paid in cash or wires as paypal and credit cards are reversible and many who bust out would otherwise just say their paypal was hacked to get their money back (maybe not many of current players but many others would try this if that was an option -- the current system is also in place to prevent scams that they have had to deal with in the past). Trust me, they would much prefer to have an online process to automate this whole mess, but is just not a viable option due to degenerates and our laws. They need irreversible cash upfront if you want poker tournaments to even exist.
Also, while I agree things can be improved, how much extra rake are you willing to pay to have some futuristic app on your phone that would have very limited use other than a few times per year, and how much would that actually improve your overall experience? Is it worth an extra $10-$15 per entry for every person in the tournament, lowering the prize pool, most likely more?
