played the 1K 8 game today. This was my first event this series. I have 2 suggestions. Matt, I am not ripping this event, it was run well, the floor made some good rulings and the dealers for the most part were excellent. id just like you to consider the following suggestions for upcoming events.
1) 8 game mix should be 8 handed or advertised as 6 max 8 game mix. the structure sheet said 6 handed, but this was not in any of the print ads that i saw. Apparently they made it 6 Max to accommodate 2-7 triple draw. What winds up happening in short field 6 Max events is that most of the time u wind up playing 5 handed waiting for a full table to break. we wound up Playing horse plo and nl mostly 5 handed just to avoid having 1 or 2 people sit out in the deuce round. 8 handed short field 8 game mix winds up playing mostly 7 or 8 handed. One or two people sit out for 1 hand of deuce but the other games are played full as they were intended. Playing the stud and limit games mostly 5 handed has a much greater impact on the event as opposed to having 1 person sit out.
2) Starting too low and then skipping a level when it really matters. We played 50-100 limit and even smaller nl and plo for an entire level with 8000 starting chips. This level is in thursdays event as well with 15000 starting chips. Then we skip from 200 400 to 300 600 rather than have a 250 500 level. This is a huge jump, especially in the triple draw and stud games. Id much rather drop the 50 100 in favor of a 250 500 level.
