love punch drunk love, favorite sandler film and that says a lot because happy gilmore and billy madison are very dear to my heart

licorice pizza

meh

interesting and well made but nothing about the plot made any sense to me and it kinda felt like he just wanted to make his own version of once upon a time in hollywood

strip poker invitational tour

had poker videos on in the background and the algo fed me a "where are they now" vlog that was talking about eric lindgren's ex wife (never heard of her before) but what caught my attention was that he said she starred in a carmen elektra hosted strip poker video - so obviously had to check it out and found quite a few porn sites have it in their libraries

it has everything, pretty girls who take their tops off, cringey commentary about their body parts, an "impromptu" pillow fight, a girl who ended up getting murdered by her reality tv/pastor boyfriend, two commentators per standard formula (and hand to god I swear joe stapleton saw this and used it as inspiration for his commentary style because they are the same), and the play is absolutely atrocious and they clearly don't know what they are doing because one girl goes all in preflop and gets 5 callers who still have chips, another girl then goes all in and the others fold but instead of winning a sidepot apparently all her chips now go to the girl who was all in preflop and she's eliminated - and of course the best part is the commentators trying to give genuine poker analysis over what is effectively a hyper turbo where everyone is <5bb deep as well as slam home nothing but results oriented praise and analysis

honestly though, once the clothes were all gone, they did truly turn it into a genuine attempt at it being an actual credible poker coverage and they don't skimp at all with hole cards and everything - went in to see some titties for the lols and was shocked to find myself watching the entire hour of content and enjoying it

tiddies and poker, what more could you ask for?

I don't have a favorite PTA film, but Inherent Vice made an enormous impression on me.

Finally got around to watching Banshees of Inisherin. Fantastic movie. Loved In Bruges but I think this was even better. Acting was amazing all around. Also loved the ambiguity of the story and the layers of possible meaning. On the surface just a story about the end of a friendship, but there was something deeper there that is open to the viewer's interpretation.

I must say that Colin Farrell has become one of my favorite actors. He was incredible in this. I didn't see The Whale, so I can't comment on Brendan Fraser's performance, but it's tough to imagine a better performance this past year than Farrell.

I absolutely loved it too, might be a little chaotic and out there for many but, to me, that's what made it great. One of those movies where every scene is amazing

I’ve always been in the Farrell fan club. He is a great interview guest when he drops the typical actor-doing-the-rounds gig, have listened to some pods with him, he really has that humble, reflective, sometimes regretful air that a lot of people in long term sobriety do. He spent a lot of his acting prime in full blown addiction, I hope he gets his due eventually.

There’s a lesser known movie with him called Ondine where he plays an alcoholic fisherman who catches a girl in his net. Best to go into it not knowing anything. It’s one of my favorites. Girl is absolutely stunning to boot.

Ondine was one of the worst movies I’ve seen in recent memory

Couldn’t even be saved by the hot chic who was so hot Farrell didn’t just cast her but married her too

My favorite Colin Farrell story was that he apparently hooked up with Britney Spears and he sent her a shirt that said, “I slept with Colin Farrell and all I got was this lousy T-shirt.”

Just watched Paddington 2 . A near hallucogenic experience but high grade entertainment. Now looking forward to eating a marmalade sandwich...
strange fact....learned that in the Ukraine dubbed version of the movie the voice of Paddington was done by President Zelensky!

I caught this on TCM the other night: Jack L. Warner: The Last Mogul. I don't think as far as documentaries go it was anything special, but I found it fascinating. Just seeing clips of stars way back then was interesting. The guy was definitely one of a kind. Wasn't the nicest guy in the world but he oversaw some of the greatest movies ever.

Watched 2014's The Gambler remake of the James Caan classic which I haven't yet seen and is now on the list

wonderfully put together, a fantastic soundtrack, full of existential angst - yet wholly lacking, you hate him and all his decisions are terrible, and then you see his life away from the pits and no, he's just more of an arrogant and insufferable prick who is disappointed he didn't make more of himself in life and needs to double down on 18 to feel something

was so close to being a masterpiece, instead you're left with a "wtf did i just watch" feeling

john goodman carries the show in his limited role
