My parents constantly tried to second guess me on all the sleep I needed when I was a kid, and we should have left well enough alone. I say give your body what it needs, and you might as well have a good attitude about it. There's nothing wrong with needing a lot of sleep. Chances are your need for sleep will change throughout your life and eventually you'll sleep less automatically.

Random observation:

It frightens me that I can't remember all the **** I say. It's like my brain and my mouth are never really connected. Apparently, I told somebody I have Jesus hair. I don't know what I meant by that or why I said it or even when I said it...yet it still seems like something I would have said.

I'm willing to give kids the benefit of the doubt on that one. Not on how many candy bars they need, but on how much sleep they need, I say go for it.

I slept like crazy when I was 13, and my mom was always giving me grief about it and calling me irresponsible and lazy. I grew six inches in six months. To do that, you need sleep! There's nothing lazy about it.

If you're at all athletic, that goes double.

If I don't get it all done at night I'll wind up taking long naps later in the day. I've just decided that I need ~10 hours of sleep a day and if I don't get it things will become unpleasant.

I had no clue what he was talking about, and he told me about a story I had once told about my dad blowing up a bus stop with dynamite. I vaguely remember telling it, but I can't remember any of the details.

I've found that often I need to sleep something like 10 hours a day to feel okay, but then after I've done it for some number of days in a row, I can go back to feeling good while sleeping fewer hours again. Seems my body just needs a deep recharge every once in a while.

I need 7.5 hours sleep usually...but my gf needs more like 8-9hrs. People are just different. But when I was 14-20 it seemed I needed 2-4 days a week of 10+hours. That just got less and less as I got older.

I remember telling a gf I needed a new mattress because mine hurt my back if I spent more than 11-12 hours in bed. She tried to convince me that was because you're not supposed to spend that long in bed, but I remain unconvinced.

sleep is so important to me. I'm a solid 9 hour sleeper. Since I don't use an alarm clock, it's usually remarkably consistent. If I don't get my sleep, watch out. A-hole city. If I short change for a couple days in a row, I'll end up with a 12+ hour night.
Watched the Heroes premier, so I got about 7 last night. Not really worth it.

Up until about a year ago I'd sleep 10/11 hours a day, but was always annoyed at how little time in the day there was. Over the past year I've changed my sleeping patterns to ~8 hours, and have to see any real difference in how I feel once I've come round in the morning...

As for today:

Brag: went to dentist, he told me teeth were so good, I didn't need to come for another year instead of just 6 months.
Beat: we lost the really, really awesome gothic house/mini-mansion thing we were hoping to buy become a cash buyer suddenly leapt in to pay the full price
Variance: minimal.

So I was trying to think of a way to go see Where the Wild Things Are, and I came up with an awesome idea. I'm going to start a rent-a-child service. I'll get children from orphanages and you can have one accompany you around so you can go see a kids movie, or go to Toys'R'Us or Chuck E. Cheese, or play on a playground, or whatever you'd like within reason. The orphans have a great time, and you don't look like a creepy pedo. It's brilliant.

But then I have an obligation to be a good big brother. That's too much pressure for just wanting to go see a movie.

No experts. No lawyers. Just some noob to copy it and change the wording to suit. What the hell. It is only 200k right?

and for some very odd reason...I love the word "irrevocable".
Keep in mind that it is a payment system based completely on documentation. What does that mean? If you have a word spelled incorrectly on your invoice in comparison to the same word on the letter of credit, payment can be refused. (The format is picky enough that the purchaser can usually find a way to dispute payment if things get hairy.)

Your bank probably gives a basic seminar on the ins and outs. I recommend you participate. Until then, Understanding and Using Letters of Credit, with the caveat that I haven't read this website nor can I vouch for its accuracy. (The basic point being that info is out there to educate yourself.)

They are a useful tool when working across borders with new contacts. I only wanted to emphasize the details are incredibly important when working with this type of payment.

Disclaimer: It's been years since I've used one as a payment tool, and my knowledge is limited and rusty.

Good luck, daveT. With the legwork you're willing to put in, it's only a matter of time.
