I think Chinatown is right up there with Godfather but I'll go with something different that I've enjoyed and seen just as much...

....so my favorite all time is Das Boot Director's Cut.

It's close between a few movies, I am not really movie guy, but Good Will Hunting, Dead Poet's society and Schindler's list are my favorite ones.
I'd probably go with Good Will Hunting, but it is really close.

So many to choose from but I think I'll go with Seven. I could have gone with the Godfather, Goodfellas, Unforgiven, or many others, but I think I'll go with Seven. I watch it over and over and it never gets old. Morgan Freeman is a genius.

Can I go with Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland? If not I'll happily settle for Black Cat, White Cat (Kusturica)

I've never seen the director's cut of Das Boot, reason being that the movie itself is a selection from an almost 5 hour long series (6 episodes) which plays out just like a movie. No idea if the director's cut is as long as the series is, or wether the series made it to television across the big pond. Since I'm a huge fan too I felt like pointing out that it exists (you never know).

No, the Director's Cut is a little longer then the original, but I've never seen the series, nor do I think Rick has either. I'll check out the Kusturica you mentioned if it's available on Region 1. I've only seen Underground, and I loved that one.

Cinema Paradiso is one of the most incredible movies I've ever seen.

Very little love for the foreign films in this thread. I'll go with Amelie and Cinema Paradiso as a close second. BTW Schindler's list is BS hollywood propaganda and an unfortunate distortion of history.

I'd have to go with 2001: A Space Odyssey. I saw it when I was 17 and had heard a range of reactions from the best movie ever to the most boring movie ever. I've seen it so many times, and despite its slow pace it never gets dull. Recently my friends and I got baked and watched the third part in a dark room while Echoes played synched up on a cd player. The only other time I've felt that entranced in a film was watching Anemic Cinema, but that wasn't near the extent of Space Odyssey.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anjVjj4w5rA is one of my favourite scenes in any movie.

There are other movies that I don't get tired of watching like Eternal Sunshine, Block Party, Dr Strangelove, Breathless, or Pulp Fiction, but none of them are as good as 2001.

Wow, it's really difficult for me to pick one movie. A top 10 would me so much easier.

I guess I'll go Out Of Africa.

My personal favorite is still probably Pulp Fiction or a Few Good Men. As far as best, Shawshank and 2001: ASO ainec.
