Epic end to the film

I have never talked to anybody about the film so was unaware of events

You just knew he was gonna turn over the jack of diamonds

How tilting it must have been when he was sat outside and the negro kid come up to him "Come On Man,Come On Man",LOL

Least his girl stood by him

Watched it on bluray, can't believe a film nearly 50 years old could look so good
loved the movie. and you are right, it had a great ending.

watched Jeff, who lives at home yesterday. 7/10. it had a pretty good and unpredictable ending also.

Coriolanus is pretty good, although I could only follow about 70% of the dialogue. No matter, I understood the plot. Not familiar with the Shakespeare play. Takes that old style English and sets it in modern times yet feels surprisingly fresh. Don't love it because like I said I didn't get what they were saying some of the time. 7/10

just watched "Sullivan's Travels" (Criterion)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034240/

First Preston Sturges film i have watched and it will not be the last
Razor sharp dialogue (for the most part anyway), very amusing
I seem to have rediscovered passion for films again,

Veronica Lake must be on the most beautiful actresses i have ever seen, in the same league as a young Lauren Bacall. Going to try and watch some of her other films.

Nice play on words.

today i have watched

Iron Man
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371746/

The summer blockbusters like Avengers & Amazing Spiderman made me look at a few i may not have seen over the last few years. Film never really got going to the hour mark, great action sequences though. Downey Junior on form as usual, Gywneth Paltrow (yum, yum). Will probably watch the sequel, how can you resist any film with Scarlett Johansson in. 5/10

Cool Hand Luke
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061512/

I know this film is considered iconic, and one of Newman's greatest performances, but i did not enjoy it as much as i thought i would. There are some memorable scenes and lines but i do not think Newman's character is developed enough, i think some flashbacks to earlier parts of his life would have worked well. This has been compared to One Flew over the cuckoo's nest, the supporting cast in that film was far superior, each with a unique personality 6/10

The central character is played by Sean William Scott, famed for playing Stifler, but played really well and about as far from Stifler as you can get.

But in the end, it's a film about one man's belief in his team making the team believe in themselves, about sacrifice and about what it sometimes means to be a man - at least in the tough parts of this world. Oh and how a straight up unquestioning belief can change things.

Which makes it all sound grander than it is.

And after a while I stopped wondering if I liked it or not, and just started to like it, and by the end, realised I really liked it a lot.

7.5/10
I really liked Goon. I wish that they didn't have Sean William Scott try and dumb down the Doug Glatt character so much. I found myself liking Glatt much more when he acted normal, and I thought Scott was very good in those scenes.

I felt the same way about the movie. At first I wasn't sure, then it got pretty good, then it felt like it was about to unravel, and then it got really good. Overall, I'd say it's one of the better comedies out there.

Transcendent Man - Amazing documentary about Ray Kurzweil, an inventor and futurist, and his ideas about the technology singularity as well other future ideas.

Highly recommend. Has interviews with many qualified individuals, both who support his ideas and skeptics.

today i have watched

My Man Godfrey (Criterion)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0028010/

I do find these screwball comedies immensely entertaining and this is no exception. I see what the older generation mean when they say "they don't make them like this any more". The part of Godfrey who i now know as William Powell might just be one of my favourite performance's

I caught Moonrise Kingdom... I found it quite good, but not WA's best effort. I keep wanting to see the magic and balance I experienced in The Royal Tenenbaums, but it still eludes me.

never the less, Moonrise Kingdom is definitely a multiple viewing movie

I watched Tiny Furniture, the Lena Dunham movie that got her the Girls show. It was a lot like Girls. Funny smart dialog, but I can imagine people hating it intensely. These rich entitled whiny kids etc. Sort of like a thirtysomething for hipster Tribeca 20-somethings in the 2010's.

Startes Jesse James yesterday but had to turn it of after i got really tired.

Got to about 45 minutes and thought it was great. Looking forward to finishing it today.

Will probably start from the beginning!

Just watched Drive and enjoyed it a lot. It reminded me of Thief, which I'm sure other people here have already said. Ending seemed a little off but still very good.

today i have watched

A Dangerous Method
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1571222/
I was drawn to this film by the talent involved, David Cronenberg, Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortensen. Impressive performances, beautifully shot, midly intresting subject matter. 6/10

The Killing (Criterion)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049406/
One Of Kubrick's earlier films. I think the disjointed narrative robs the film of any real suspense. Memorable final scene though. It's no Rififi 6/10
