There is one sequence in particular that made me weep from the sheer awesomeness of everything that was going on in the frame. I think the last time I was awestruck like that was back when I first watched Jurassic Park when I was a kid. The scene in spoiler tag below.

Spoiler:
The fire tornado/dust storm sequence. HOLY **** that kicked my ass. The car getting sucked up, lighting on fire and exploding with bodies flying everywhere triggered something inside me. A wonderful big screen experience that rocked me to the core.

The great thing about the film is that the trailer only shows you enough to get you excited. If you have a bad time watching this film you better check your pulse.

There are plenty of nods to the previous films that are subtle enough that they feel like an organic part of the film and not Miller paying lip service to his fans.

I don't want to say much more. See it on the biggest baddest screen you can find, but see it in 2D. The 3D was horrific at times. The only thing it "added" was ghosted images and it strained my eyes.
Awesome!

Watching 2 & 3 tonight, seeing FR tomorrow night in AVX 3D. The only 2D showing is like 445pm on a single screen, wtf. Anyways, can't wait. Everyone is loving it.

Take note Ridley Scott. This is how you create a much anticipated followup to a beloved franchise.

Are there any other examples of a director coming back years later to continue a franchise and totally surpassing every expectation?

I know I'm in the minority, but I loved Prometheus. Thought Fassbender killed it. That being said, I have never been more excited for a rebooted movie than this new Mad Max.

George Miller wrote/directed Mad Max and Babe. That's next level.

I'm not old but I'll guarantee you'll like it and I've not seen it yet. How about THAT!

If you enjoyed the original films this is right up your alley. Give The Road Warrior a go if you don't like it, you don't deserve Fury Road

I'm old and I'm going to go see it, and I can't wait.

This movie stands on it's own feet... you don't need the context of the other movies to make the latest version of Mad Max work.

bye bye avengers... your new #1 box office hit.

I liked The Road Warrior a lot, but I was 13 in 1981.

Are you as big a film geek as me? Did you hear the synopsis of Fury Road, and think 'that's "Spacehunter"!'

I'm on my way for round 2 of Fury Road! I'm listening to the soundtrack and getting pumped!

Yep, he's a weird sort of a genius, no doubt.

Ok, I'm going to see Mad Max. If I don't like it, that's it for me and action movies.

Miller did not direct Babe.

Come now, we need not nit it up to that degree. He co-wrote the first one and directed the sequel. Saying he directed Babe is close enough to the truth.

Mad Max was a lot of fun. I'm not sure if I'd give it the insanely hyperbolic praise it's been getting, but I definitely enjoyed it. Really good action, and it's got more depth than a typical action move as well - felt like it was part of a world with interesting lore, history, etc that I would like to learn more about.

Definitely a positive review from me, although I kind of need to digest it for a while to see exactly how positive.

I'm not kidding about this: Mad Max was HORRIBLE. It must be like a gymnastic routine where the reviewers are scoring it on difficulty to film or something. 9/10. Too bad they got lazy and cheap. If they only made a few dozen more stupid cars and trucks with spikes and flames and pole dancers and drove them across the desert for another 2 hours it would have been a perfect 10.

The lead actors were good. A couple tiny good ideas here and there. The hand to hand combat was well done.

I am too ****ing old for this.

3/10.

Tell that to Chris Nolan, the Oscar-nominated director of Babe.

Nice, some more biased reviews is good. Reminds me of when the thread collectively fooled me into watching Pain and Gain by saying it was this generation's version of the Godfather.

Pain and Gain was no Godfather to be sure, but I was pleasantly surprised (low expectations though).

Lol who said that?

I hate M. Bay, but I did enjoy that film.

If this is a troll or a joke, I'm lost.

If you are seriously denying Miller's involvement with Babe 1+2, I'm lost again as to how you haven't yet performed a simple google search and realized your error.
