Never really been a fan of Breitling. For some reason I have always thought their dials look a bit to cluttered. Also, I have quite small wrists so most of their models would look ridiculous on me in any event.

I was in Vegas recently and had the very good fortune to try on each of:

http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en...93&tx=78&ty=61

and

The VC is a watch I have always admired, but I was slightly disappointed to find it was a little large on the wrist.

Everything about the JLC just seemed to scream quality. It was so beautifully apportioned and finished - incredibly impressive.

The Lange is out of my price range until i hit a few more roulette winners, but i just had to try it. One day...

Tudo monte carlo is in the 4000 to 4400 range at AD

I've been toying with either a rose gold 1803 day-date or iwc big pilot (I know, two totally different directions) for my 30th birthday. Any thoughts in here?

30 is too young for a day-date imo

when i turned 30 i bought an "old man" watch so i understand the line.. daydate is def. fits in that category. prob doesn't get much more old man than that.

I'd go with the IWC there, but if you're set on a Rolex, try a Daytona?

30k watch or a 12k watch? Couldn't you buy a BP and a TT DJ for less than a FG DD?

What if I'm really old at heart and like a gold day-date? I don't intend on getting one on the presidential bracelet, probably just the rose gold head on a brown leather strap.

Not set on a Rolex necessarily, and when I go Daytona it will be a 6263 which is a good bit out of my price range for this acquisition

The other watches I own are a little more in the sport watch category which I think is partly driving the "old and dressy" theme a little more and I am partial to the day-dates, but also love the Big Pilots.

If you are looking at old and dressy, why not PP or VC?

Yeah, I've given a Calatrava some thought. Can't explain why the DD has a special place in my heart though, despite the beating it's taking in here .

This is where a Daytona looks best these days.

im gonna buck the trend and say i think an 1803 can be pulled off on a strap by a younger guy

prefer vintage though, bonus points for weird foreign language day wheels

Yeah it's the 1802/1803 references that I'm looking at.

lol@pulling it off. If you want a DD just ****in get one dude. I think they look beautiful on the presidential bracelet, and the invisible clasp mechanism is very cool.

In Scottsdale there were definitely the occasional 20s-30s guy wearing one. Often seen throwing bets and raises away as quickly as possible.

Ok, non-baller question time again.

I was wandering around airports last week and one of these caught my eye. Looks nice. My "style" (not that I have "style").

So the non baller question is... What is something that looks very similar, but for more like $500.
